Tightlywound, and for anyone else in our situation you do need to know that just because you may be an addict recovering or not does not allow any provider/hospital to deny you treatment for your pain they may at first tell you no, but all you simply need to do is pick up your little hospital phone and connect to the patient advocacy department and make the complaint! If there is legitimate pain that is, not just a friggin headache...I've been in the situation, was denied, admitted into the hospital with cellulitis of my right hand, hand swollen big as a boxing glove, the call to patient advocacy fixed thst situation right up quick smart to IV morphine B/W 10mg oral oxy every 4 hours...know your rights stand up for yourself advocate just cause you are an addict gives someone the right to endure you suffering? I don't think so.
