How long will doc prescribe oxy after surgery

I had shoulder surgery to repair my labrum about 5 months ago and The dr has prescribed me 5s about every month or every other. I was wondering how long I could continue asking for them till he denies me or thinks I'm an addict. Ive been taking them recreationally for about 3 years so I was thinkin about requesting a refill online in the beginning of January. Any suggestions on how to continue to get them prescribed?
