Treatment How effective is Clonidine for hyperactivity associated with adhd and for akathisia?

Saw some studies that said it was very beneficial for akathesia and hyperactivity. Has anyone tried it for that? My dr had no issue writing it and am trying to pick it up shortly.

I wasn’t trying to add any new meds but I haven’t been sleeping at all the last two nights and I’m sober aside from weed.

Edit: so it’s actually extremely effective for me. I literally wasn’t sleeping due to either mania, hyperactivity, and stacked with AP induced akathesia. I asked my dr if I can try it yesterday and so he wrote me for .2mg twice a day. I only took one yesterday because I was out cold after and today I don’t feel manic at all or hyper.

Come to find out it’s being researched as an anti-manic agent. So it checks three boxes and very well for me.

You want to stay away from clonidine. You can develop significant withdrawal and rebound.
