I have little experience with heroin. I took it about 30 times (rough estimate) over many years, always snorted. But I have experience with quite a few others opiates and couple of years of morphine use.
For me personally benzos and booze were most problematic drugs I used, probably followed by coke. Benzos and booze got me in most trouble and coke did it fastest.

Most of the time it's not a "take this thing take that thing". Medication or substances used in the proper and medicinal fashion can be important, but it's far from able to help you on just its own, in the vast majority of cases. Takes a lot of hard work to recover. You can do it!
