Help I'm going thru withdrawals from oxys but still have oxycontins

Hello all,
First time posting. Ran out out my oxycodone and only have oxycontin left. Going thru major withdrawals and don't know what to do.
Have cancer, that's why I gets theses meds but hate taking long acting so end up running out. Ran out way too soon this time and can't get the short acting for a while.
Have been taking the oxycontin and letting them dissolve in my mouth. That works somewhat. Also take a one milligram ativan a couple of times a day. I'm sleeping a lot!
I also have copd and scared my heart is gonna stop! What/how should I do this to get thru till a week from now without killing myself with these oxycontin? I have a few 10mg, several 15 and 20mg ones..I can't take it! Help get me thru the withdrawls!
 
Im a little confused as to why you dont like the extended release version of oxycodone? They should absolutely stop your withdrawal unless you were taking MUCH larger amounts of oxycodone instant release. Just spread out the oxycontin and stop the withdrawals with however much you need.

Obviously i am not a doctor, so take it at your own risk, but definitely stop the withdrawals with the oxycontin and then go from there until you get your refill.
 
Thanks soooo much for replying..yes I was taking much more..that's why I'm out. So now I'm trying to use the 20 mg oxycontin to stop the withdrawals. The short lasting were 20 mg. So now I'm about 4-5 days away from taking them. I've been dissolving the 20 oxycontin in my mouth. Should I now just start taking them regularly? Like twice a day like in suppose to? Will that stop the withdrawal? For some reason this time I went they 160 oxycodone (months worth) In about a week and a couple of days.
 
Damn, thats not good to hear my friend. You'll definitely want to make them last a lot longer than a little over a week. But yes, use the oxycontin 20mg exactly like youre supposed to and hopefully the slight withdrawal youll have will help reinforce the idea that you should take them as needed, not as wanted. Which, dont get me wrong, is much harder said than done, so i am not judging you here at all (especially since i would probably do the same if i were in your position). But just try to take them as needed and hopefully your pain will be gone.

Just try to do the same with your next script, only as needed.
 
Would help if you could tell us how much you are taking a day. Several things you could do to assist with withdrawals. Kratom, loperamide and benzos. Not sure why you don't like OxyContin. That's some good shit at the magic dose.
 
Ok I'm assuming you're talking about how much oxycodone I was taking? This time for some reason I started taking them every couple of hours. Pain was really bad. Then 1 1/2 etc, until they were gone..now I'm taking the oxycontin every 5-7 hours by dissolving them in my mouth. I guess I don't like to take the oxycontin is I don't get a buzz...Also taking now ativan 1mg every 4-5 hours and I am taking the loperamide as needed. They give me that cause the oral chemo causes diarrhea so I get a double whammy going thru withdrawals! Why is everyone asking why I don't like the oxycontin? When taking it the way I'm suppose to I get too drowsy I guess...(with the oxycodone) Plus I don't feel it like the short lasting. Ann I missing something about the oxycontin? I am also a little concerned about the respiratory problems..I also have copd.

You still didn't really say how much oxycodone you're taking a day. The perfect OxyContin dose for me is 80mg but it will differ for everyone depending on tolerance and what your goal for taking it is. Kratom can be ordered online.
 
Thanks headhigh..I read a little of your posts and appreciate the fact that you're trying to live clean. I was in recovery for many years of adult life. Then diagnosed with cancer and had to start dealing with pain. An addiction specialist recommend I go on Subozone since originally it was used for pain. Bulked at the idea, but finally agreed. Worked great for pain for a long time. Then due to my type of cancer (multiple myeloma-bones) I coughed and broke 3 ribs within 2 months. Went back on the oxycodone and have been in them ever since. Since there's no cure for this cancer I have exceeded the mortality rate of 5 years. Going on 7 now and things are still looking good. Anyway, battling addiction and taking pain meds are certainly a challenge. I have never ran out this soon before and you're right! It will certainly make me think twice before I decide to eat them like candy and think I'll slow down and spread them out before I run out...right! Thanks for the words of encouragement!
 
Sorry, gmliger. I WAS taking 20mg oxycodone every 4 hours. But for some reason this last script I got (160) I ran threw them within a week and a few days. Taking them every couple of hours them increasing to 1 1/2, then 2. Then the withdrawals started..I was taking enough Imodium to kill a horse and didn't work. It has tho finally started working. I was never taking the oxycontin at all. Taking for two reasons. Pain relief from cancer and of course to get/stay high. I know that sounds bad..just helps me deal with everything. 80 sounds too much for me since I don't take the oxycontin regularly anyway. Do you get a buzz on the oxycontin taking 80mg at once? Are you taking them by mouth, letting them dissolve? Or just swallowing them? When I did take them as prescribed, I noticed two things. I was much more drowsy and then I couldn't feel the oxycodone as much..What am I doing wrong?
 
I swallow the pill whole. Takes about an hour to start getting good pain relief then yeah, I am high for most of the day. I regularly take 100mg+ of instant release oxy a day and stepping down to the er 80 was a nice surprise. It sounds like you were taking over a 100mg of oxy a day as well. The OxyContin is going to be the same as any other drug. You will need to get used to them. Take everything as it is prescribed to you and you may learn to appreciate the extended release tabs.

I just reread your post and it sounds like you were taking closer to 300mg a day of oxycodone. You definitely need to learn to use the OxyContin to your advantage.
 
Gotcha, gmlifer. So hopefully last question for ya. And you're right about the 300mg a day is close. So without the oxycodone for now, taking the oxycontin 20mg by dissolving them in my mouth (about every 5 hours), how much should I take by swallowing them? Also, are you saying you no longer take the instant release at all now? Just the 80mg er? Twice a day? Sorry just wanna be sure I'm getting this..again I so appreciate the help from you guys. Do I need to be worried about taking ativan?
 
I'm not sure how to proceed from here because this is a harm reduction site but I'm sure if I say something wrong my post will e corrected or deleted.

If your OxyContin is 20mg then take 3 or 4 of them at one time. Maybe even more.

I don't take meds at night. When I run out of instant release I will take 80mg extended release to keep me out of withdrawals.

That part I don't know for sure. It seems like there is a fairly large release over the first 1.5 hours then it holds steady for about 3 hours then I feel a decline for 1.5 hours then another large release.

I would love to know exactly how much is released and when.
 
I didnt get a chance to read through all of the replies yet because i am in a rush, but i would like to point out that oxycodone and oxycontin are the same chemical, it is just that oxycontin is the extended release version. I dont know if you knew that already, but i just wanted to make sure. That is why i was confused as to why you were not pleased with the oxycontin because it should absolutely take care of your pain and your withdrawals.

And i am incredibly happy to hear that you have exceeded your life span with this form of cancer, i hope you keep on keeping on with as much joy as you can get
 
Be careful with the loperamide, there have been reports of high doses really fucking with people's hearts. You are already on a strong opioid I would figure that's enough to control diarrhea but I don't know what you are going through and am definitely no doctor. Be safe and try to keep the loperamide dose low
 
Oh my, thanks guys..you warm my heart..I appreciate all the concern, well wishes and info..No I wasn't aware, falsifiedhypothesi, of the loperamide fucking with the heart. Will keep that in mind definitely...yes headhigh I know they are the same...It just scares the wholly shit out of me to take the oxycontin because I have copd and am scared to death of respiratory depression..Since I've been letting them dissolve in my mouth should I quit that all together and try just taking the 20mg every 12 hours?
 
I'm confused as to why you say you're worried about respiratory depression from 20mg of extended release, when you were taking 20mg of instant release every couple of hours?
