Misc Has anyone used Sodium Valproate as a mood stabilizer? This works?

Hello everyone, I have recently been prescribed Sodium Valproate as a mood stabilizer, the doctor who prescribed this medication is also the same one who prescribes Methadone 20mg a day and Diazepam 15mg a day, my question is does Valproate really work? I feel that it is a totally unnecessary medication, but my mother administers my medications and since they have prescribed it, it forces me to take it. Does anyone have experience with the use of valproate to "stabilize the mood"? does it work for this? What has been your experience?

I mean it has evidence it works for some specific disorders. Idk if you can just take it and be more stabilized. I take and it seems to work but i have massive suicidal mood swings. Sooo.
