excellent movie

also:

Farenheit 451

Vampiros Lesbos (odd film, but i like the imagery. That scorpion is stuck in my head)

A life less ordinary

Princess Bride (ok, so everyone has seen it, but still worth a mention)

"May", I just seen this movie. Maybe its cuz it coming down and its 3:30 but that movie was the shit. Its about this girl that gets treated like shit so she builds a friend from body parts...

Romance
its the french sex porno comedy, though somewhat disturbing. I laughed my ass off to this.
"Do you want me to stick it in your ass?"
"No, not yet."
Videodrome - vintage/classic Cronenberg, I just saw it on imdb.
Ghost in the Shell - havent seen the sequel.
The French Connection - people have seen this but most young people prob haven't
Run Lola Run -hasn't been mentioned. Just thought I'd mention it now for posterity.

props for Repo Man, Drugstore Cowboy

The Experiment. Go rent it on DVD!
The Grey Zone (for some hurtful viewing, so powerful).

i dont know maybe most people have seen it but i really enjoyed Tim Burton's Ed Wood recently. definitely an imaginative piece and Depp was fantastic as always. The range of different roles that guy can play is astounding !

also i saw this movie called The White Balloon yesterday in one of my cinema classes and i thought it was really beautiful. rather slow passed but that worked so well in encouraging you embrace the scenery and characters - letting you be there with them. It's an Iranian film [so yes subtitles] with a hugely humanistic message in my eyes.

also i strongly advise people NEVER to write something off just because it's a foreign movie or is in black and white. i know so many of my friends who do this and it disheartening. You might be surprised, you never know. :)

i just watched this the other week in class and i loved it. minimal dialogue, fantastic soundtrack, intriguing story, good acting. its a british film.

hehe, yeah i haven't read it :)

you didn't like it?

a couple of people in my class didn't either but i really enjoyed it...

I third Battle Royale...

Panic in the Year Zero: Old b&w nuclear apocalypse movie, full of classic stereotyping and good times. One of my favorite movies.

Stalag 17: Another old film, this one dealing with American POWs in a Nazi prison camp. More like propaganda as it makes prison life seem quite peachy. Another great experience.

The Deer Hunter: Emotional movie that tells of Vietnam POWs and how they escaped and returned to society. Definitely the most serious movie of the ones i have posted.

^^^ when i saw the teaser for that movie, i almost literally wrote a note to myself reminding me not to watch it... my grandma loved it tho.... lol
