Getting high on Gotu Kola

I am posting here because I have found that taking the supplement Gotu Kola has many of the same effect as smoking cannabis indica. My heart rate increases, I go into a deep meditative state, my body tingles, and food tastes really, really good. Usually these effects are more noticeable on high doses. Can anyone explain why this is? Also, would it be safe to smoke weed if I'm also taking Gotu Kola?

I don't know much about Gotu Kola except that it presents some risks to the liver and has been linked to cancer in mice. It is counter-indicated with NSAIDS, diuretics, and sedatives.
So personally I'd say it probably isn't all that safe by itself, especially at recreational doses.
That said cannabis doesn't really interact harmfully with anything.
Bottom line though, if you're worried talk to a real doctor.
