Gabapentin vs lyrica

^^^

I’ve still never tried Lyrica, but IME gabapentin ruins opioids in high doses. It seems to literally block opioids from working. It’s why I don’t take more than 2,000 or so mg in a day anymore, since it will negate all the good effects I can still get from kratom.

As far as Lyrica, I’ve pitched the idea to my psychiatrist of switching to that from gabapentin for my anxiety/depression, and while he’s not totally against it, he sees it as a “last resort,” if continuing to up my gabapentin and mirtazapine doses doesn’t work. He said to me the evidence doesn’t really show it’s any more effective than gabapentin for anything. Idk how true that is, but he will likely eventually allow me to try it.

it's my fave thing to read on BL, these time-machine threads :) I've tried gabapentin once and it is the bomb for pain like pinched nerves!!! probably cool to use once week. def not one u want to get hooked on based on reports I've read while UsingTFSE.

I took Lyrica when I first started in pain management and hated it. The capsules were either 50 mgs or 75 mgs and just 1 pill gave me blurry vision, made me scared to drive and my legs would swell so much that the skin would pull apart. Plus I ate way too much ice cream on it lol.

They said the cure was to take more and increased my dose to 300 mgs a day. (Have I said enough times how much I hated that pain clinic?) I couldn't tell you how many thousands of pills I threw away after 4 years because they tracked our prescriptions to make sure we filled them all. Weirdos

Fast forward several years later and my current pain specialist wanted me to take it.

Fine. I'll try. All the symptoms came back and I told him it wasn't going to work.

Then Gralise (ER gabapentin) came on the market. I love it! I started at 300 mgs at night after dinner. Fast forward a few years and I'm on 600 mgs (1 pill) at night and it still works great. No blurry vision and no painfully swollen legs. I'm a small person and it made me unhappy that the lower halves of my legs were the same size as my thighs. Plus the dry, cracked skin didn't happen with Gralise thank goodness.

I can go up to 1800 mgs a day so if I need to increase it I have a lot of room to do so.

Everyone loves Lyrica. I have a big bottle that I'm holding onto in case I ever have to go thru withdrawal, even though it's way out of date, but my love is ER gabapentin.

I have taken grams (5gr) of pregabalin and grams of phenibut (25gr) daily for many weeks. Never had any kidney or liver problems and bloodtests came back perfectly fine. Where does it say that pregabalin causes kidney problems?

I read that doses between 3-10g can cause kidney problems but only read that from a user on this site. Howcome you take so much pregablin? I thought you cold turkey'd off everything.
