Some say you should twist them and take them from the ground like that (I do it like that). Or if you do it like you than it’s important to cover it with ground. In fact even if you pull it out it's best to cover that spot, that's probably the best for shrooms. Thing is that’s a fruiting body and not mycelium that continues to spread. After mushroom releases spores that what you call root ball will become rotten too and there’s a slight chance rotting (if shroom is unlucky and or out of balance cuz of something) will spread to mycelium so consensus is to either pull out steam or cover it with dirt to prevent that.
Also before taking out shroom tap it so more spores gets out. And use a basket to collect them to spread even more spores.

Might be it gets significantly different than A. muscaria at bigger doses.

I’ll see for myself one day when I get a chance.
