I was a fan of the original as a kid.

I just got back from the theater.

Keanu was perfect for the role.

I didn't go into this with any expectations, although a good number of the Rotten Tomatoe reviews were pretty poor.

I gave it 3 stars. It was a fun watch.

I've had the original on my top ten favorite movies since I saw it back in the 80's. I was a little concerned about the new version, hoping that they wouldn't change the movie too much... or completely rape one of my all time favs. Thankfully the plot changes they made, I liked. I think they went a little overboard in making Gort so much bigger, but other than that I was pleased. I give it a four... it will join the original in my DVD collection when it comes out.

i'm not an anti-keanu. i don't mind neither esteem him much, but that's actually my opinion here

too bad they paid him millions when they could have used any talentless actor as a cheap puppet instead

It was all right. It wasn't anything more or less than I expected from a big budget, end of the world type of film.

(really, big whoop, your slip is showing) I thought the 1st 3/4 of the movie was great, special effects were good, not fond of the giant robot (Gort) but....the last 1/4 and especially the end sucked for me...

Having just watched almost every "end of the world" film made for the last 3 years, this rates on the lower end of the scale. Reeves played the role reasonably well. Unfortunately, the final third of the story hinged on a Stupid Kid™ doing a Stupid Thing™ (which seems to be a plot device that gets relied on more and more these days). It also suffered from poor character development of Klaatu, with him seeming weak-minded and easily swayed. Cleese was also poorly cast, and while his sudden appearance was a welcome deviation from what was a slightly turdig series of scenes, it didn't quite work.

I didn't think that movie was all that bad. It could of been WAAAYYYY better. The original is far better. Keanu did a good job. He can a seriousness like no one else. I like him, people knock his skills, I quite like his acting.

Keanu's acting sucked (he was OK in this one) but he one of the 2 men who can make me gay. The other is Johnny Depp.
