I thought the movie was over all alright alothough I did only see it once lol.. that was awhile ago and I cant quite remember everything that happened in it. Maybe i iwll watch it agian sometime

in leiu of a long drawn out discussion as has been done for our pages i will say- typical.
atypical was the cameo by deborah harry... score blondie. this alone in this movie made me happy

Initially Sandra Bernhard was interested in the movie but she wanted to be the main character. Jonas Åkerlund had asked her to play the phone sex lady but she refused.

Listen to the director's commentary, Jonan is fucked up.

Hahaha... three pages of debate about poo. I laughed my head off at this thread =D

Spun is a top movie. The first time I watched it, I was stoned and it totally did my head in. MY head Spun nearly as much as the movie, and I fell asleep 3/4 way through, but with the vague feeling that I really needed to see it straight in order to concentrate more.

Well, we bought it just recently on DVD and whaddya know - even sober, my head still spun watching it! ;) But I picked up SO much more of the clever pace, atmosphere and humour the 2nd time around. I really enjoyed seeing Hollywood pretty-girl Mena Suvari as the cracked out meth whore.... and how TWISTED is that scene with the chick tied up to the bed? It's so wrong even I had to laugh, and I don't normally have that sort of sense of humour.

Spun is not a movie I'd watch for light entertainment, nor in a hurry for a while, but I truly liked it. It had energy, character, balls and a large helping of rough edges which certain other shiny drug movies (although more mainstream-entertaining) haven't.

^^^ is there something wrong with me if it's this kind of film which absolutely epitomises what i watch as "light entertainment"? ;)=D

seriously :D

This movie sucked,Ii didn't even deserve one star

I just found the characters so annoying--then again most real world tweakers are:)...oh,Mickey Rourke was good:)

Yes, you are a freak :D ;)

The *content* is my idea of light entertainment, but the pace and the way it's shot make me feel somewhat ill.... I'd put Rules of Attraction in the same basket with it's weirdo camera angles and back/fast forward bizzo.... I just have a weak stomach! But I deeply appreciate the art in both cases, nonetheless.

I'd be more likely to pop on Blow, Boogie Nights, People vs. Larry Flynt for a normal, non-head-fuck type of entertainment.

But you're right, it's not exactly a "deep" movie like say, Requiem. You could watch Spun on a comedown and not want to slit your wrists ;)

Man, I don't get how people could NOT love this movie! I saw this in full for the first time a couple of nights ago and I was so impressed...it was hilarious, nuts, and it's the only movie I've ever seen Britney Murphy in where I don't want to kill her for being so damn annoying. I really liked her character and thought it was kind of sweet the relationship that formed between her and Ross, even knowing that it was never really gonna go anywhere. The characters in this movie are so cool...the Cook was awesome, Debbie Harry was awesome, Spider Mike was hot, Frisbee is the dumbest and grossest fuck ever since John Waters started making mainstream movies....I loved this movie a lot. :)

Well..... I can sum this movie up in two words.

Mickey Rourke.

He stole the show (as usual).

I'd say this is an average flick. I didn't totally dislike it...but I wasn't really satisfied with it eithier. IMO

I'm sticking by my initial assertion that Ackerlund should stick to making the kids on TRL happy and never ever try to make a motion picture that is over three and a half minutes long.

But that scene with a flagrantly fruity Eric Roberts sleeping in between two naked callboys is just too precious an experience ;)

Movie doesn't know if it wants to be a total Requim clone or a pop drug movie. A lot of the characters are just stupid. The most interesting parts of the movie are the most derivative ones, which isn't a good thing.

Best part: when he just leaves that chick there handcuffed to the bed. Totally wasn't expecting that.

2/4

I just saw this movie after seeing it mentioned on BL and hearing friends talk about it. And I must say I was amazingly disappointed! It was barely held together with mindless drug-induced stupidity, the scenes with the cops somewhat entertaining, but there was no plot whatsoever. Just a bunch of stupid shit that people who don't sleep do- and the conversations were just plain meaningless- I could go visit some friends' houses and be exposed to the same level of unintelligent, incoherent, fast-paced discussion.

I could see how this movie would appeal to rebellious kids in their early teens who have never experienced anything first hand but idolise the big screen 'junkie'.

In my opinion it doesn't compare at all to Requiem. There was no realistic depiction of negative consequences, the whole criminal element was made into light-hearted comedy in true Hollywood fashion, and the vivid hallucinations in Requiem were far more realistic and disturbing. SPun was second rate in every way. Maybe I'm being a little harsh as I don't generally like drug movies unless they are of the comedy genre, (Dazed and Confused), or show some degree of realism, i.e. negative consequences- Requiem or Drugstore Cowboy. When you live, or have lived a certain lifestyle, it's not entertaining to see that same shit simplistically glorified and put on screen.

I bought this because it cost me $10... so I wasn't overly disappointed... but it definitely wasn't one of the good drug films out there...

This is still a shitty excuse for a movie. Just like the first time I saw it.

sounds like the actors researched their roles well.
