Not at all. I thought Moore was the best for ages as well. But, the thing is... he really wasn't that good.

He just came into the franchise when the films had more money to spend on sets, better cast, improbable villains and set-pieces.

His role has aged really badly. He reminds me of Leslie Phillips!

Ding-dong! :D

\ denial :p

that is what i find so appealing about his appearances. you shouldn't take a james bond film seriously, ever. :p =D

ooomygod.
Just saw the new trailer, and now I'm in a cold sweat and have goosebumps!! I can't wait for this to come out.

Well, just saw the movie. Not as good as Casino Royale but not too shabby. It seems more like a big set-up to an awesome sequel. Quantum is setting itself up to the new series' answer to S.P.E.C.T.E.R. Mysterious organization that we will learn a bit more about each entry. Villain of Casino Royale: Mr. White. Villain of Quantum: Dominic Greene. A pattern forming?

The critics can eat a dick. I'm sick of fuckers saying "James Bond is supposed to be this. And James Bond is supposed to be that." Critics complain about movies being too formulaic all the time. This is the first I've seen critics complaining about a movie not being formulaic enough.

These critics have obviously never read any of the Ian Fleming Bond novels. Ian Fleming didn't have a formula. Sure, sometimes was in glamorous places fighting meglamaniacal evil genius.
But then you have a book like "The Spy Who Loved Me" where the whole novel takes place entirely in a motel in upstate New York, the story is told from the point of view of a French Canadian girl, the villains are two small-time thugs, and Bond doesn't show up until 2/3 of the way through (and only because he happened to get a flat tire outside the motel).

4 Stars. Loved the music and the visual of the opening credits. Loved the action. Loved the hot characters (Dominic Greene takes the cake :D)

yeah, totally badass. the story is a very good "second chapter" to the reinvention of Bond.

there are very jokes/quips, but the one or two that are used had the whole theater laughing.

the title song is the weakest thing, imo.

For those who've seen the film:
is the title legitimately befitting? I also strongly dislike the Brosnan bond (yet it's all I grew up with), so I have high hopes.

i saw this on friday. i can see the title fitting. ymmv :)

i tend to agree with ea-1475. the movie will invariably be compared to 'casino royale' and, in that sense, it's a poorer film but, for me, it was a refreshing, entertaining continuation of 'casino royale' (it's the franchise's first direct sequel).

daniel craig just nails it. the russian bird was hot. likewise the english bird but she wasn't in it enough. mathieu amalric was a great villain.

i liked it more than casino royale. having watched the two of them over the weekend, i was reminded that CR suffered by that painful romance section two thirds through that seems to go on forever and fails to capture a romantic feel despite it's syrup rich slather of lavish and exotic imagery.
QoS doesn't have such a grinding halt. It aint all action but the overall pacing is far superior. It also creates a unique and creative artistic merit in the spectacular opera scene. I REALLY dug that scene. The opening was incredible and the way it connected the two films was beautifully done.
very good villain too. i liked him just as much as mr white in CR.

4.5/5 (although i voted four)

minor note: Best (hottest) bond girls ever, imo. Both of them.

Casino Royale is a better film, for me, anyway - it had more depth, and of course, it was the beginning of a new thing - so of course it's going to hold a little excitement. However, this was still excellent. The title, which I believe even the star and director felt similarly, seemed stupid at the start, but absolutely perfect after I'd seen the film. My only gripe was that it was all go-go-go, and not a whole lot of time for reflection. A little too much action.

I think Craig is great - he seems like a very affable, likable fellow in interviews too. His previous project, Flashbacks of a Fool, was also really good, albeit, different. I love the direction they've taken though. Brosnan was quite good, I really enjoyed Goldeneye, but it all became rather overblown and stupid after that. I'm not a huge Bond fan, but I think Daniel Craig has brought a new life to the franchise, and I don't think there are many out there who would disagree with that, not anymore.

Saw this last thursday at g-max (amazing sound and a fairly big sound... too bad I was right up the front.)

I really liked it. The action in this movie is awesome. Heart racing, edge of the seat, realistic, dirty and aggressive. Every time Craig would charge down an opponent I could almost feel the crunching of bones. This is James Bond to me. He comes out on top, not because of luck, but because of wits, lethal force and a little bit of luck.

The story was topical. By which I mean, oil prices, the American war on terror and the nature of English surveillance all got mentions. Though I did feel that the story was a tad simplified... these are bad guys, these are good guys, these are the good guys gone bad, these are the good guys that do bad things, etc. I dunno, I guess such is the nature of big movies, the story needs to be understood by the masses. But compared to almost every other big action movie and certainly most Bond movies before Casino Royale, these criticisms of the story don't even register.

And agree with Impacto, two very hot bond girls in this one.

My favourite scene:
was when Bond hid in the bathroom stall and "borrowed" the goons suit and ear piece. Then stood up on the stage and looked down as he made his presence aware, and watched as all the shady characters lost their cool and left the place, not before he snapped their faces up on his camera phone.

Man such a great flick. The only thing that kind of bothered me about some of the action sequences is when it feels like the camera is too close and you can't really see what is going on. Other than that I agree with all the good things said in this thread. The opening credits are amazing as well, gives me chills. I would love to see how they are done.

I'll be the odd man out on this one - didn't enjoy it very much at all. Similar to what George Clooney said about cocaine, "it gets you all dressed up for a party but never takes you there." Maybe they shouldn't have made Casino Royale so great.

I was also dissapointed at this film. It wasnt gripping at all, and the storyline just wasnt all that good IMO.
Hope they do better next time round.

another reason i loved was when i watched this, there were absolutely ZERO advertisement and trailers before it. lights dimmed, curtains rolled. movie began.
