loved this movie, didnt know it was a book though now i look forward to reading it

The book's alright. There are better books on the junkie experience. Still an engaging read though.

superbly crafted film. another example of mr ledger's talent, which saddens me almost as much as the film itself does. the aussie settings are very close to home for me, but the drug depictions are not (i never touched the stuff).
whilst as emotioally charged as little fish (i was disturbed after watching both films), this one fell short on the dramatic side of things. not to its discredit, what it tried to do it did really well. it's just that i enjoyed the drama of little fish far more.

still, a solid 4 stars from me.

very sad. a good depiction of what an addict's life can turn into to- the spiral of out of control, loss of friends, and so on. more believable/true to normal life than requiem with the double ending and such.

I loved the whole Heaven Earth Hell sequence. It a little extreme portrayal of reality I thought but then again never been a junkie.

Whether based in reality or not its very powerful. It sends a good msg to the younger generation of what exactly drugs can do to people.

At the very least it offers/creates awareness

Very very tragic.

This was fantastic. I watched it a while ago now, but I still remember how bleak and realistic the whole story came across. The actors gave such an honest portrayal. It was brilliant. 5 stars from me.

This is one of my all time favourite movies. I recommend everyone see it, it is a classic. I so wish heath ledger didnt die, he was such an awesome actor.

Anyone seen the movie "Candy"?

Just curious as to if anyone hear has seen the movie "Candy", and what they thought about it? Personally I think they hit the nail on the head from the highs to the lows and everything a junkie (knowing personally how it is) would do. And one last question, in the movie Heath Ledgers character says "for every ten years someone a junkie, they spend seven of them waiting" I just can't see how that's true, any thoughts?

I liked Requiem for a Dream better. It was a bit more cartoonish, especially the old lady speed psychosis.

I'd say the opposite; I much preferred Candy. That said it was an Aussie film laden with Aussie actors so I may be a teeny bit biased ;) :D

yeah I like candy more, it was a bit better than Requiem which I love so I do mean Candy was literally only a ittle bit better :), but the problem with requiem is you know some asshole some where said "let's show the worst things we can think of and blame it on heroin" it just reads sometimes like a propaganda fueled message : Drugs kill! ONLY IF YOU DON'T EDUCATE YOURSELF! Alright my rants over
