My pain management doctor is "strongly suggesting" I get genetic testing done re: my prescribed narcotic medication. Has anyone had this done, followed the recommendations that have been suggested due to the results of this testing, and found it noticeably benefited them?
The reason I am asking is that:
1. I read where another BL poster had the testing done, got her results, but has not posted with what happened next: such as: were medication changes made and does she get more pain relief now?
2. There is a good chance I will have to pay out of pocket, as my health insurance has a very high deductible, and I need to figure out if it is worth paying approx $2,000.00 -$3,000.00.
Again, anyone who has had experience with this testing and had narcotic pain medication changes made as a result of this, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. Thanks!
