A fist of left, a face of right
A shining, burning, extant light
Incorporated votives flare
But they are not the ones who care
A single, sonorous, salacious beam
Will activate the world's dream
The dream, it seems, to end all things
And encase us in cerebral rings
That twist and pry our thoughts alive
To kidnap the daring dare of drive
The drive we dare to try to revive
Keep feeding it hope in an attempt to survive
Fictitious forces formed in our hearts
Both holding together and tearing apart
This trade-off, this copout I cant' abide
Though rending the struts gives me no pride
Reborn to rebuild, brick by stone
Maybe this time we won't be alone

I'm not in the right frame of mind to respond to this, but it does ring out with a few clear notes for me at this time.
Sounds like describing The Matrix scenario of a world that wishes to hold us hostage.
There isn't a self-identify until the 4th from last line "I can't abide" and it continues to the next line. Is that intentional? If so, I'm missing the reason, if it isn't, it throws a wrench to the setting (which again, could be intentional).

Keep up the good work.

Yeah, that's a perfectly valid interpretation of it. It reads to me as one person breaking from the collective to destroy it so that a new unity can be formed. But I'm really high on my signature substance, so you can take that with a grain of salt.

And thanks. It felt pretty good to write that, so I'll try my best.

My favorite lines are "ficticious forces formed our hearts/ Both holding together and tearing apart".
