I have massive anxiety and I have a court date in a few days. I was drunk in public and a urinated in public. I’m on disability I have bipolar and general anxiety disorder and I’m wondering if I should have a few drinks before I go to court or if that’s a stupid idea thank you

Just about every state has rules for court appearances. Here's an example right off the Sate of New Hampshire's web site:

MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THE DATE AND TIME YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO APPEAR!!!! Failing to appear on the correct date and time could result in the issuance of a warrant for your arrest, as well as the loss of you drivers' license or right to drive.
If you have lost your paperwork, or need to be sure you have the correct date, call the court.
MAKE SURE YOU KNOW HOW TO GET TO THE COURT. Directions to each court location may be found on the judicial branch website.
Be sure to make your travel arrangements ahead of time and leave home early enough to be in court on time. Prepare for traffic, weather, etc.
IF YOU SPEAK TO A LAWYER, MAKE SURE THE LAWYER KNOWS THE DAY AND TIME YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE IN COURT.
DRESS APPROPRIATELY. Court proceedings are dignified events and should be treated as such. Garments such as shorts and tank tops are not permitted.

NO DRINKING!!! This should go without saying, but if you appear in court under the influence of alcohol you may be held in contempt and jailed. Even if not under the influence, if the judge believes that alcohol is an issue he/she will probably make you return on another day. Alcohol can stay with you, so if consuming it the evening before court (unless you are under a bail order NOT to consume alcohol) do so in moderation.
BRING NO WEAPONS. Firearms are prohibited. Other weapons, such as knives, pepper spray, etc. will be confiscated. You will be searched before entering the courtroom.
CELL PHONES - cell phone usage in the courtroom is PROHIBITED and a cell phone which rings while in court may be confiscated. BE SURE YOUR CELL PHONE IS OFF OR ON VIBRATE WHILE IN THE COURTROOM!
CHILDREN - the courtroom is not an appropriate place for kids. We understand that it is sometimes necessary to bring children to court; however every effort should be made to avoid this.
CHANGING THE DATE - you may not call the court if the date of your appearance is inconvenient and simply change it. A document called a "Motion to Continue" must be filed at least 10 days in advance (if possible) of your hearing and you must contact the prosecutor to see if he/she agrees. If you have an emergency that prohibits you from attending then by all means call, however the court will likely not reschedule an appearance based upon a non-emergency event.

Check your local state's information and act accordingly.

It's a really bad idea in general. It's like showing up to drug court high on drugs.

Just be honest. It's completely normal for someone to act anxious in court.

This isn't like going to the grocery store drunk. These people see tons of addicts every day and are experts on recognizing someone under the influence.

If they suspect you drank, especially after that charge, they will likely throw you into an alcohol program.

Its like going to court for robbery and having a big sack with dollar signs on it sticking out from under your shirt. Don't do it, if the bailif smells anything on your breath they will mention it to the judge

I've seen people getting breathalyzed in the hallway outside the courtroom when they were suspected of being drunk at their court appearance. The driving limit seemed to be the cutoff, assuming they didn't have a no-alcohol probation condition.

This is potentially one of the worst ideas I’ve heard about prepping for a court session. Don’t do this. Showing up intoxicated for an intoxication related charge? Dude…

You make threads daily that you are barred out and can barely type. You have benzos at your disposal for your anxiety and drink on them and make threads asking how many drinks you can have despite 50 comments telling you its's a bad idea. I have to delete your comments because you tell people to use meth to lose weight. If you want to participate in the harm reduction forums please start abiding by the rules. Otherwise The lounge and Drug culture may be more your style.

The question has been asked and answered. You use benzos daily so I suggest using those as opposed to alcohol for your Court date.

Closed.

I would add to what NR has to say: DC and TL are available to you, but if you’re trying for stuff that is totally against harm reduction policy it won’t fly anywhere on the site.

Come and be social in Drug Culture or The Lounge, but stay in the spirit of the forum.

Just to reiterate once more: DO NOT do this! They're going to check to see if you're intoxicated, and if you are, as someone else said, you could go to jail. It's normal to be anxious in court, just deal with it and drink when you get home, if you need to do that.
