i was waiting for my gf to post pictures before i reviewed it, but she's being lazy so i'll go ahead and do it.


positives:

the lasers at the main stage - better laser setup than ultra or electric zoo had. only EDC had this beat. these with the massive strobes they had were giving me some serious wiggles haha.

steez promo security guards - i told myself i was never going to starscape again (also put on by steez promo) after their security staff was shaking people down for money and drugs and reselling them to other people at the event. they finally made them wear the official yellow and black security polos with individual numbers on them. this has restored my faith in future events they put on as far as security goes.

plenty of room - originally, i almost didn't go because i was very concerned with the fact that everything was setup in tents in a parking lot, and i thought it was going to be very cramped (starscape status the last 2 years kept running through my head) but there was TONS of room at each stage.

i found a gram of molly on the ground - can't go wrong with that! gotta love a good ground score hahahaha.

negatives:

COLD AS FUCK - they advertised the tents would be heated, and they definitely were not. i was FREEZING when i first got there. as you pushed forward towards the front of the stage, it warmed up from everyone's body heat, but this was probably the first show/festival/concert where i never broke a sweat.

no bass in the dubstep tent - apparently there were tons of noise complaints during the show from surrounding neighborhoods, and they completely cut the bass off from the dubstep tent and one other stage. it sounded like it was playing from my car stereo system and i couldn't get into it at all. this was really disappointing, as i was really looking forward to seeing skream & benga, and excision, and i had to walk away from both of these sets.

moby - moby was one of the top 5 sets at ultra this year, and my favorite set at electric zoo. unfortunately, he played the EXACT same set, song for song, in the same order, as he did at electric zoo. i was beyond disappointed. luckily diplo was 1 tent over crushing it, so we went and raged at his set instead. (this obviously isn't steez promo's fault).

overall:

I had a great time. It wasn't an awesome lineup by any means, they were missing that one big time headliner that i think would have put this event over the top, but i had 15 of my best friends all drive up from virginia beach for this, and we some how all stuck together for most of the night, so i think this fact made it that much better for me, as its usually just a couple of people that i go to stuff like this with. I would definitely go again next year, but due to the fact that DC was trying to shut it down, I'll be really surprised if they let them do this again. I really wish they would let them do this at the armory, but they won't allow festival type shows at the armory anymore.


@JJ I wish I had seen your post before I got inside. I would have kept an eye out for you. And age is just a number. I've been to starscape with my parents all 4 years that I've gone, and they go just as hard as all of my friends I go with. It just means you're a seasoned vet haha. maybe next time we'll meet up.

UPDATE: I just found out massive had more noise complaints than any other event in DC history. sorry if you missed out, cause this is NEVER gonna go down again.
