Desmethyldiazepam or nordiazepam is the active metabolite of Tranxene, it is also a major metabolite of Valium.

I have been looking for comparative levels of nordiazepam when diazepam is taken and when Tranxene is taken.
Unfortunately, after some digging I have been unable to find any real data/numbers.

Personally, it seems I have to make a choice between either and I'd like my choice to be an informed one.
Does anyone have any sources or information ?

Tranxene if you're looking for Muscle relaxing properties
Valium as anxiolytic.

I can't be of more help, sorry.

I would stay away from Tranxene unless your condition really needs it as relief.

Did you try searching in PubMed?

The first study below gives comparative numbers for diazepam and clorazepate. I didn't search for diazepam PK studies but here are a bunch of studies for clorazepate. They will give you some numbers to compare with the results of any studies with diazepam that you can locate.

Isn't Valium supposed to be the muscle relaxant ? And Tranxene is anxiolytic and anticonvulsant ?

Thank you. For some reason, that had not occured to me.

Anyway, the corresponding numbers for diazepam and desmethyldiazepam are much harder to come by. Data about corpses and dogs won't do much good ...

I'll try again later. Note: I did my best, and apparently I'm not very good at it, or there are very little data available.
