Collapsed with scary heart problem due to speed/coke/no sleep - Need advice!

OK so basically been snorting speed on and off since October last year. Often go several months without taking it. Never had any problems apart from the typical inability to piss and occasional mild E.D.

Last Friday, I had only had 4 hours sleep (8am til 12.00 midday). Did a line of coke mixed with speed at about 4pm. Then continued to do a line of speed every hour until 10am the following morning. Started sipping on 2x beers really slowly from 11.30pm til 9.00am Saturday morning as well.

Started walking into town at 10am Saturday. Felt really drained and light headed. Had to sit down on a bench by about 11.30, as my chest felt really tight. Panicked when I felt like my heart was gonna explode and dropped to the floor clutching my chest. Genuinely thought I was dying of a heart attack. GF called an ambulance and paramedics took me to hospital A&E. All the symptoms described were exactly like an angina attack. They discharged me after several hours when I said I felt better and the ECG went below 100bpm.

I know it definitely wasn't a heart attack, but I haven't felt right ever since. I'm taking 2x 75mg aspirin every day, but apart from that, haven't really changed anything in my daily routine. If I stay home and sit around or lie down, even have sex, I feel absolutely fine. But as soon as I go out for even a mild to light walk, within half an hour I can feel the tight chest pain coming back and I have to sit down and focus on my breathing to stop myself from having another angina attack.

Has anyone else had heart problems from speed / adderall / coke abuse who can give me advice on recovery? I estimate I did about 1.5g speed, 0.5g coke/speedball mix. Also did 0.5g MDMA the Friday beforehand. And generally trip every 2 weeks on 2x tabs of LSD.

The only other time I've had heart problems was in February. Had 3x hours sleep, some speed the night before, then 3x big strong coffees and a red bull in 4 hours. Had sudden heart palpatations, went pale and had to sit down. But it was nowhere near as scary as what happened on Friday.

It's been 5 days and I'm worried that I'll be unable to lead a normal life due to permanent arterial damage or something. Obviously not doing any drugs now until I figure out what's wrong.

Honest opinion - you're having panic attacks, and you've correlating, whether you know it or not, being in town with with heightened fear and anxiety. Try to calm down about this issue. I don't know if you keep yourself well hydrated throughout your speed/coke binges, but angina can occur due to dehydration and a decent lack of potassium.

I was definitely dehydrated. Hardly drank any water all night. I know I messed up. I just want to know how long I'm gonna feel like this and whether the damage to my body is permanent or not.

You've done some permanent damage in the way your body is sensitized to substances. Some of this can go away with time and abstinence from stims and alcohol but if you continue the pain and palps only get worse. Theres no way to know whether its chest pain from arterial narrowing or not unless you see a cardiologist and are completely honest with them. The physical symptoms of anxiety can mimic lots of illnesses and Id guess thats what is going on.

I admit too it sounds like a panic attack. My first one had me in the ER thinking I was having a heart attack too. I was discharged but didn't believe it until it happened again and again and anxiety attacks too. The first one I was on a heavy dose of tramadol but subsequent ones were on coke/weed/meth/pills sometimes all of the above. Researching panic attacks was on one hand relieving that I hadn't destroyed my heart and the ecg at the hospital was right but reading about panic also caused anxiety to increase too because it took me there. Nevertheless I learned tips though in a bad moment nothing could fix it.

Why are some people telling him he's just having panic attacks and others telling him he's done permanent damage?!?!

None of you know if either or both of those things are true or false.

OP: If I were you I'd see a doctor, preferably a cardiologist and have an EKG and stress test done and maybe even an echo cardiogram.

Those are the kinds of tests that can tell you what you want to know.

Other than that, people around here are just speculating and you won't find the answer as to what's going on by asking people on a forum.

Yes a specialist could provide more definitive answer. I offered an alternative possibility based on the fact OP was already evaluated in the ER and standard for cardiac complaints are tests like EKG/ECG, labwork, ultrasound, etc. depending on how thorough the doctor chooses to be and most likely would recommend what you are stating already.

I can't completely relate but I used to abuse adderall. At one point I started having really bad heart palpations. I stopped taking it completely and it has gone away. I still get them on occasion. I would lay off that stuff especially if you are having cheat pain. Not worth it.

Do you still get them now? I just feel like I have this constant heavy feeling in my chest.
Yes I still get panic attacks and anxiety attacks that often correlate with how stressed I am in my day to day, if something that has triggered me before comes into play, if I have too much free time and overthink negative aspects of my life. For me panic attacks are like random releases of adrenaline with no threat present. My first one I was simply watching a football game. My anxiety attacks I have a trigger I can pinpoint. I've had several near death experiences and took major blows in life but oddly enough it's when life is consistent and mundane that I feel them most...I overthink everything I suppose and living on the edge is living happy for me. So I guess I'm an adrenaline junkie who needs something to relate the adrenaline to or suffer for it.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm going to see a cardiologist for peace of mind. I'm 31, slim figure, hardly ever smoke cigarettes and before Friday, I felt great. I feel it's unlikely that I've developed coronary heart disease overnight, but it's not impossible that some heart condition has gone undiagnosed and that drug abuse has triggered something.

For the time being I would completely stop the stims. Whatever the problem you are facing they same to be exacerbating it.

Yeah I haven't taken any stims since it happened. Not even alcohol or cigarettes. Booked to see doctor on Thursday, hoping to get all the cardio tests done ASAP.

You should try getting a hold of a couple benzos and see if these symptoms persist, if not it could be all anxiety. If they do it could be something more serious.

I'd rather avoid benzos if I can. The possible side effects sound awful and even if they do stop my panic attacks for a while, they'll probably come back when I come off the benzos, so it's only a temporary solution.

Sounds like a good plan. Keep us posted as to how the appointment goes. I'm staying optimistic for you!

Sounds like a panic attack to me. Getting paranoid when around other people? Stop all stims and sleep for a day or two, drink water, and eat healthy. Bet you're fine in 2-3 days.

Chest pain is there pretty much constantly, it just gets bad if I do anything which raises my pulse, like walking to town etc. Nothing to do with how many people are around. I can either feel fine or start having an attack regardless of whether I'm in a crowded shopping area or sitting at home alone. But does seem to happen more when I'm out and about exercising , walking etc. People vs no people makes no difference.

Hey man I would definitely do an echocardiogram and check your feet or hands for swelling. This sounds very familiar to someone I knew if it is exertional . Adderall has caused heart problems for people suceptible too them
