Opioids Codeine and Kratom Alternating

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone knows if I could alternate Codeine and Kratom to reduce tolerance. I'm using Codeine once a week for pain and Kratom (Green Malay) almost everyday. Would this work or is there cross-tolerance between the two? I really want to reduce my Kratom usage.

Thanks

Sam.

Both codeine and kratom are opioids, they are certainly mild ones but they both will produce tolerance, dependence, etc. - all the typical opioid effects.

The only way you can reduce your kratom usage is by cessation of use entirely.

If you are taking kratom/codeine only once per week "for pain" you probably don't need to be taking it at all. Opioids are not meant to be treatments for acute pain in general. Consider using NSAIDs, cannabis, and the like for pain control that will not produce dependence.

Thanks for the reply, I was using Kratom mostly for anxiety and depression but I've been using too much. Codeine i got on prescription to slow the gut down and as a pain killer.
