I'm looking for advice for a friend about prolonged cocaine and alcohol consumption. Friend has been using cocaine and drinking alcohol for approximately 5 months. They are previously healthy with no heart conditions. They suffer from pretty intense anxiety. They have been experiencing chest pains daily. Is it anxiety? Consumption is approximately .5 - 1.0g per every second day with an additional 5-8 drinks a night. Is friend putting themselves in danger? Could they die from this or is it just anxiety?

those are 2 of the worst things to do if someone already had anxiety
daily drinking for that long may or may not cause issues depends on your genetics and body some people can drink like crazy for that long and stop without issues
some will exp WD and or anxiety
cocaine can make your chest hurt anxiety or not

always best to get medically checked out
as for the danger part not alcohol right away unless you get alcohol poising but in due time itll damage your organs like the liver etc
cocaine for sure can cause damage what type of damage isnt definitive
think the biggest area it would affect would be your heart

IMO i would lay off the coke and cut back or stop the booze and see how you respond
but yeah you can be right it can be plain anxiety but again adding booze and coke isnt gonna help either

Hi, welcome to Bluelight! Cocaine by itself can cause heart arrhythmia and raises blood pressure. Alcohol also raises blood pressure so it's no surprise he is experiencing anxiety. The mix of cocaine and alcohol are converted by the body to cocaethylene which can be dangerous and cardiotoxic. To answer your question, yes he is putting himself in danger. If your friend is still using and having chest pains, he needs medical attention. Not trying to scare you but this is one of the top reasons why otherwise healthy young people end up in the morgue. Please urge your friend to get help!
