cheap but not trashy euro holiday destinations

Greek islands? Hire bikes etc. There's plenty of nice ones. Not Corfu (though the north isn't bad) or Kos obviously.

Istanbul - I was there last week and had a great stay. It was mentioned above about Spain, I've been to Madrid a a couple of times recently and I find it pretty expensive overall (even though the economy is struggling). I was in Berlin last year and that was OK - Think I may try South Germany (Black Forest area) next European trip.

Malta. Amazing characterful historical volcanic island. South of France too. The more money you have the further East you can go and watch all the multi-millionaires play with their boats and cars in St Tropez. And the babes there are said to be knockout. Ive been to south central, and the west a couple of times to the pyrenees which are also fuckin awesome. It all depeneds what you want. Cheap, sunny, south of france, somewhere central, i dont think that can be beaten....

id like to hear of anything better though, if it exists.....

Careful, this is after all a drugs forum. Malta is notoriously dodgy for drugs users! Don't get nicked there!

Liverpool is amazing!! I lived there for 5 months in college. Loved every second!

I've also enjoyed Prague both times I was there! Good nightlife if you ask some local some of the locals. They never steer you wrong.

Have gotten some great deals in Italy if you go on off season. Only been to Rome but can't to go back!

Austria was also VERY cheap and beautiful mt ranges. You can rent a bicycle and tour around wherever you like.

If you don't want euro then Mexico is the WAY TO GO! We always go to the Mayan peninsula of Cozumel. You def want to go the Mexico soon since hurricane season starts at the end of may. We stayed at the Occidental Grand and loved it!!

A cruise to the Bahamas is a great shorter getaway. Stay at the RIU which is next the to Atlantis and you can get day passes to hang there and go to the casinos and clubs at night.

Good luck- also check the website Trip Advisor for in depth customer reviews. I always consult them before going anywhere!!

Have fun!

+1

Get a cheap flight to Athens, stay for two days and see the historic centre. Take a ferry boat and combine a few days in the less touristic islands.

Amorgos - You will need to rent a scooter, but there are buses that take you everywhere. The Big Blue was filmed there.
Koufonisi - Ideal to get away from everyhting. You can walk around the island in an hour. Two of the nicest beaches in the Aegean are found on the island.
Astypalaia - The central village is amazing.
Paros - Ok, a bit touristic, but a large island with lots to do.

As you plan on doing this in June, the weather will be great, was 30 degrees last week. Athens is bearable this time of the year, and is ideal to see the site.

Combining the above, you get to see a historic city, and spend time on the islands. The above islands are all interconnected by ferryboats, so ideal to spend 2-3 days in each island then 'hop' on to the next.

lol yeah most people in this thread are in the UK (you're in EADD) so a city break to Liverpool is probably NOT what they mean by a european holiday :D But maybe jc's not been, fun can be had.

It's a long time since I was there but I remeber Hamburg as bein lovely. Germany's not cheap though. I would look at Poland next, not been myself but only heard good things and the Poles I've met have been lovely people.

I find Germany very much cheaper than any other place in western europe, especially for eating and drinking. Found Munich to be great deal less expensive than most of Italy or France. Very nice, clean city with excellent boozing options.

Also Holland outside of the bigger cities should be very nice and interesting, only drove through there unfortunately but crossed many nice villages where I would have wanted to stop.

Belin. how is it with the party scene? have a trip pcoming in mid june...

sorry, i didnt know. I went during a period of my life where i was clean as a whistle so hadnt had to think or worry about drugs at that point.

So, anyone who can do without drugs for a week or so Malta is awesome.

Bulgaria on the Black Sea is now the place to visit iirc. I saw a few newspaper articles on it. Very cheap, great weather and beaches, good nightlife.

A know 4 groups of people went there this year. 5 out of the 17 people got pick pocketed and all bar 3 were ill with food poisoning.
Age of the groups went from 10 to 56.

^ Great! I'm sold ;)

Sounds like the articles were paid adverts then :\

Heh, sounds like Stormreject's mates are just on a full on Brits abroad compo scam... =D

We had a lovely holiday in Gran Canaria, situated in Mogan Playa. The hotel was set in beautiful gardens and was just a short walk to the little beach. Either through the garden, or along the promenade. At the beach you can people watch whiling away the time with a coffee/drink. There are frequent boats to ttansport you to a different place, or the bus station was near enough for a ride to differeent towns etc. Mogan is known as Little Venice and was very pretty.

This really sounds to me like an old couple have just recently had an absolutely lovely holiday abroad and innocently searched google for a place to leave a positive review, instead stumbling upon us lot.

They probably googled 'Trip advisor' and found BL..

^Haha. =D

Unfortunately they're a spammer, and just received an extended holiday from us.

Shame, we'd have taught them well!
