Misc Buscopan "usable" in any way similar to Imodium?

Okay, apparently, it CAN be easily turned into Scopolamine by crushing and smoking. Anyone done this? Also, what effects does scopolamine have?

Buscopan is the N-butyl derivative of scopolamine. It is a quaternary ammonium salt that is positively charged and therefore cannot pass the blood brain barrier – so it is not psychoactive. Pyrolysis of buscopan upon smoking results in partial cleavage of the butyl group and formation of scopolamine – but is not efficient (100 – 150 µg scopolamine are produced from 10 mg buscopane ( Frascht 2007 ; DOI: 10.1093/jat/31.4.220).

Anticholinergics like scopolamine or atropine have a long history in shamanism, sorcery, and witchcraft by ritual experts all over the world. Their recreational value is highly questionable and their margin of safety (deadly dose / effective dose) dangerously small. A full-blown anticholinergic syndrome is a unique experience and not comparable to any of the effects elicited by common drugs – however, there usually is complete amnesia for most parts of the experience.

Harm reduction would imply to stay away from (unselective) anticholinergics. However, for those who do intend to experiment with them it would be much safer to source the authentic active compounds like scopolamine or atropine, so that dosages can be properly measured and most carefully increased step by step. Consuming inactive compounds that only form an active compound upon pyrolysis is an extremely dirty process because these reactions are not selective (buscopan is NOT a pro-drug for scopolamine). Smoking buscopan has been fatal ( Strano-Rossi 2021 ; DOI: 10.1007/s00414-021-02583-2). Please stay safe.
