I was told and probably will be told that one should stay on a daily Bupe program for a steady two years. What happens after that? Tapperig off from say 2mg daily all year to zero. Why don’t they believe in cold-turkey while in inpatient?

By me theres a state run detox it's a 5 day program the first three days you take bupe each day a lower dose n then the last 2 days you receive nothing

i was on suboxone for 7 years than sublocade 1.5-years tread lightly, I TRADED 1 FOR ANOTHER oxy to bupe can`t get off

Suboxone is only necessary in my eyes if the opioid are purely recreational. Bupe is much stronger than Oxy and you are flooding your opioid receptors with zero pain relief. I was on Bupe for 5 years and can genuinely say it was a mistake. If you are in pain, get whatever MRI etc to a Pain doctor who will give you something that will actually help. And for reference, when I started, my Pain doctor told me it would be a "6 month period". 5 years and a suicide attempt later and I am on a manageable dose of Pain Meds. Wishing you the best man

Wow. Intense story Bro. God Bless.

I am so glad I fought my pain doctor on his idea to change my medication from MS Contin to Suboxone.
something just told me that was going to be a real disaster.
Your experience has confirmed that for me.

I’m so sorry you went through that.
I went through hell too, before I finally got some help for the chronic pain.
Same thing as you, suicide attempt.

I strongly agree about suboxone only being necessary if the opioid use is purely recreational.
I didn’t know that they gave no pain relief.
I wonder why so many Pain Specialists are insisting that suboxone does give pain relief, when so many pain patients say it does not!

To answer your question, I think they have found that people are able to get stable and to get out of a bad lifestyle by using the suboxone. It gives you some time to figure out the reasons for the usage and get to the root of the problem.
That is hard to do while going through withdrawal and changing your lifestyle.

If you feel like you could cold turkey with some help and stay clean with support then I think you should take that route.
It can be done. It depends how deep you are in I suppose.

From reading others experience coming off of suboxone is a really hard thing to do. So, yeah, it would mean slowly weaning down off for quite awhile.

Think things through and make the best choice for your situation.
I wish you the best and I am here to support you.
Be Well.
