I would agree with howdoisavenat -guys are going to masturbate, regardless of regular (marathon?) sex of not. Could be a multitude of factors, the only one that sounds to me like you ought to look into is what pofacedhoe provided in terms of 'pushing limits" to get that next best thing/

A ton of people masturbate, even in relationships. That's just what they feel like doing at the time.

As a female I would take the opportunity to do the same. Get yourself a dildo and take care of yourself, hes having himself a good time. No reason you can't do the same? This could even be something you could do together, pop on some porn he can do his thing, you do yours.
