as you can see we have updated the site. We have been working on this for quite a while, but we had to fasttrack the update because a Bluelighter had gained access to an admin password and we could not guarantee the security of the old version any longer. This meant the site had to be down until the update was finished.
SHORT LIST OF CHANGES TO THE SITE
We'll be tweaking some things. If you get stuck or if you notice any nits or problems, please visit the Support forum.
PASSWORD CHANGE
We have sent everybody a new password. This password change is necessary as we have discovered there has been unauthorized access to an admin account. It is possible that the person might get access to member accounts. To prevent this from happening, we have changed your password. If you have used your old Bluelight password on other websites, we recommend that you change your password on those sites as well.
We have sent password reminders to all registered email addresses.
This only applies to your Bluelight forum password. Passwords for Bluelight webmail are not affected.
If you haven't received our password reminder or if the password is not working, please go to the "Lost Password" page at http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/login.php?do=lostpw and fill in your registered email address. You will get a new password.
If your registered email address was invalid, you are in bad luck! We had to assume that the hacker might get into user accounts, so we had to reset them all. If your email was invalid, you didn't get our password reminder, and the "Lost Password" page won't work. It follows that we have no way to verify your identity. We will not give out the password to any user account. If you lost your email address, you will have to register a new Bluelight username. This is better than having a hacker get into your account so this is the way it is.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused. Of course, it is a fact of life that security problems do happen. We have updated our software to a new version to try to prevent intrusions in the future. We cannot give any details on the identity of the intruder at this time.

- The forum software is updated to vBulletin 3.5.0. Everything is different. Take some time browsing to get used to it.
- The journals and gallery are updated to latest versions.
- The site has a new skin which is actually blue. Well, greyish blue.
- The site address has been changed to bluelight.ru. This happened for legal reasons. It's not important, just use .ru.
- Three letter search is now possible!
- MyBL is now called "User CP" and it has a lot of new functions. Take a look at the User CP and the options, so you'll know them when you need them.
- At the bottom of threads you will find a table with "Similar threads". Use this to find more discussions about a subject.
- On the "Forums" page, you can see a list of logged in users and birthdays.
- A light "PDA" layout is available at http://pda.bluelight.ru/
- The links database has been killed. Visitor stats showed that it was not as well used as in the past. Thanks to forgotten for his work!
- We haven't been able to update vbPad; it might return in the future.
- We've ditched "The new", we're now officially called "Bluelight".
