black tar vs. #4 damage to veins

I usually use ecp living on the east coast, but I recently met someone who moved up here with connections for black tar (it's cheaper). I do cold shots cotton bud filter. I'm very sterile with rubbing alcohol, clean needles. But I've heard that tar destroys your veins and there's nothing you can do about it. Is this true? Search engine wasn't much help. I know ecp is better for you but to what degree?
