Heroin black tar question

Does anyone know what would cause black tar to go from light brown (with tan ribbons kind of like cigarette tobacco) upon purchase to black the following morning? It was particularly strong and smelled different than most stuff I've seen. I know it was probably just cut with something I haven't seen but I'm wondering what would cause the color change over night.
 
Like he said ^ Exposure to Moisture. When I was doing tar we use to Huff on it to get it black and hard when we smoked It.
 
Thanks. The stuff in the bag wasn't exposed to water per se but maybe the humidity in the air
