"On Wednesday, June 26 at approximately 11:15 a.m. Humboldt County Drug Task Force agents assisted by the Humboldt County sheriff's office and California Highway Patrol arrested Matthew Walker, age 33, of Alderpoint after he attempted to trade marijuana for a travel trailer.

Approximately two weeks ago Humboldt County Drug Task Force agents were alerted by a citizen who was selling a travel trailer on Craigslist that a person was trying to trade the citizen “herb” for his travel trailer. A Humboldt County Drug Task Force agent took over negotiations posing as the seller and began contacting the suspect on line. The suspect offered to trade four pounds of high-grade marijuana and hashish for the trailer. The Drug Task Force agent agreed to meet the suspect at Tooby Park, Garberville on June 26 at 11 a.m. to make the trade.

When the suspect, identified as Matthew Walker, and another man showed up at Tooby Park, both were detained. Agents searched the vehicle they came in and located four pounds of marijuana bud and one pound of hashish. Walker was arrested on outstanding felony arrest warrants for cultivation and sales of marijuana issued out of Mendocino County superior court and traffic offenses. The other man was interviewed and released at the scene.

Agents and deputies then drove to Walker's residence in the 4500 block of Rancho Sequoia Road, Alderpoint where they served a Humboldt County superior court search warrant on Walker's residence. At the residence they located 304 growing marijuana plants ranging from eight inches to two feet in height. The plants were being grown in greenhouses and outside on the property. Agents also located another approximate half pound of hashish in the residence, along with a rifle.

Walker was transported to the Humboldt County correctional facility where he was booked on arrest warrants and on new charges of cultivation and possession for sale of marijuana. His bail was set at $55,000.

While at Walker's property, Drug Task Force agents and deputies obtained information about marijuana cultivation on another nearby parcel in the 4000 block of Rancho Sequoia Road. They contacted the Humboldt County district attorney's office and spoke with a district attorney investigator who obtained a search warrant for that parcel. When the agents and deputies served the search warrant, they located 1,572 marijuana plants ranging in size from two feet to four feet being grown in six green houses. They also located a sawed-off shotgun and a AR-15 assault weapon in the residence with high-capacity magazines.

Two men were located at the scene and determined to be associated with the marijuana cultivation. There were identified as Travis Land, age 36, of Redway and Juan Hernandez, of Alderpoint. They were both arrested for cultivation and possession for sale of marijuana. Agents learned Travis also had an outstanding felony arrest warrant for cultivation of marijuana. Both were transported and booked into the Humboldt County correctional facility. Land's bail was set at $55,000 and Hernandez's bail was set at $25,000.

Anyone with information regarding drug related activity is encouraged to contact the Humboldt County Drug Task Force at 707-444-8095.

"Well guys, luckily the police cleaned up Humboldt county of all of that pot and jailed those dangerous criminals! Those people will just have to find something else to do! I'm just glad my children won't have any dope to smoke now that they've gotten rid of it!"

^ logic of those guys...

what a bunch of assholes. Especially the seller, 4 lbs plus a lb of fine hash for a travel trailer is a great fucking deal. Some people...

tons of people trade cannabis for things, i guess they shouldn't have made a trade to someone who doesn't smoke or whatever but did the vigilante seller really have to go to the authorities over this? I hope his travel trailer burns down.

Agreed, a bunch of assholes. This led to a series of raids on people gardens in the area the purchaser lived. :p
As, you stated many people do trades for flowers . Especially, in the emerald triangle and surrounding areas. It's pretty easy and worthwhile when pretty much everyone is sitting on more marijuana than most can dream of. It is known up here that the leo's are on the prowl for trades....but, it still happens daily.

i've known many people who worked just for cannabis lol

not just people who trim the crop or harvest but do actual real work and get paid by the gram.

I bet LEO trade cannabis all the time themselves, probably sell it too. Like in the trailer park boys when the boys have to pay high prices to buy weed from the cops hahaha

back in the day you could pretty much get anyone to do anything you needed (car/house repairs/electronics repairs/anything) for an oxy 80 lol.

I know for a fact they do.
I'm sure there are people who work for bud everywhere. But, that is definitely a common thing here. Most people exchange a seasons worth of work for cannabis or even a few of their own plants + a place to sleep and food to eat for the season.
