Misc Antihistamine Cyproheptadine and Prozac?

Hi,

I am RXd Cyproheptadine 4mg for SSRI side effects. My psychiatrist is usually very good but I think she may be off here - wouldn't the Cyproheptadine counteract the Prozac resulting in prozac withdrawal? She's convinced it won't but I've read it can do that and the last thing I need right now is medication issues. I'm actually nervous to take it but I want to for sleep and also I think it could be a nice addition to kratom which I take once in awhile.
Has anyone been on an SSRI and cyproheptadine and taken both? I know it's a somewhat obscure drug so I apologize. Thank you.

What side-effects is she trying to counteract? Sexual side-effects?

It probably won't result in antidepressant withdrawal exactly, but may reduce some of the antidepressant effects of the prozac.

If the cyproheptadine is indeed being used to offset sexual side-effects, you might consider taking the cyproheptadine a few hours before sexual activity, but only on the days you intend to have sex (rather than take it everyday).

Correct as to why it's RXd, for sexual side effects that unfortunately come and go. Luckily it hasn't been an issue recently but it's nice to have. My insurance denied me Viagra lol.
Weirdly I haven't tried it for sex yet, I've tried it a couple times at 4mg for sleep at night but it's been awhile since I tried it. I'm prescribed Valium 40mg daily for PTSD and 15mg Serax for early AM awakenings so if it gets uncomfortable I'll be fine. I want to take 8-12mg alongside the kratom I took today to see if it mixes well.

Thank you for your answer. Do you think it's dose dependent as far as possible reducing the Prozac? I take my Prozac every AM around 9am.
