Amyl intolerance?

On the weekend some friends went out to a club and consumed 2x Caps containing MDMA. During the night they had the opportunity to sniff some amyl. Normally the effects of this combination are positive and make for a lovely experience. However, for some reason the effects of the amyl could not be felt, despite trying multiple points during the night. Others seemed to be feeling the effects fine but not the said friends. I have tried doing research and nothing has come up about anyone not feeling the effects of amyl whilst on MDMA. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this or knows about anything that could cause these effects?

Either you had already been snorting so much that it had no effect or it wasn't an alkyl nitrite.
Most commercial available alkyl nitrites these days come in the form of iso-propyl nitrite.
The combination is known to me and I prefer to do it when I'm lying down.
