Is there any anecdotal experiences with this compound? I was recently perscribed 200mg in the AM and a 100mg early noon. Just started this med anything will be appreciated.

From what I have read, amantadine shown here:

is similar to Namenda (memantine) shown here:

As you can see the structures are very closely related.

Amantadine appears to have a very wide receptor activity profile. Hitting NMDA sites, increasing dopamine release and blocking its reuptake, and affecting some anticholinergic sites. Amantadine has a significantly shorter half-life than Memantine. Amantadine is fully excreted after 15 hours for a 100mg dose or a rate of 5 mg per hour. Maximum blood levels of Amantadine are reached within four hours for a 100mg dose. (This information is from the monograph for Amantadine found here.) As for Memantine, its elimination half-life ranges from 60-80 hours with maximum blood levels being reached between 3 and 8 hours. (This information is from the monograph for Memantine found here.)

There are no trip reports on Erowid dedicated to the drug alone. There is no information on TripSit either.
The only information that can be found regarding recreational use is on Bluelight. It appears there is a thread here that has loads of information on both Amantadine and Memantine. Also check out this message from a different thread.

Stay safe and best wishes!
