Drug companies must test their drugs with a sample of people representing all ethnic groups as there are differences in the concentration of enzymes in the liver, gut etc...between ethnic groups. This can greatly change the effectiveness of a drug.
This is why asians can't handle as much alcohol as caucasians. They have a lower concentration of an enzyme called "alcohol dehydrogenase".
