In an effort to keep Bluelight to a reasonable size, 16605 abandoned user accounts have been deleted. All of these accounts (1) had been registered before September 1, 2003; (2) had not been used since September 1, 2003; and most importantly (3) had never made a post. It is safe to assume these accounts had been abandoned and now they have been permanently pruned from our database.

On a related subject, there have been scattered complaints that people did not receive "confirmation emails" after they register and could not activate their account. Perhaps the messages were blocked by spam filters used with America Online and/or Hotmail accounts. Improvements have been made on our end and hopefully that will solve this problem. There were 1136 accounts registered after September 1, 2003 that were "awaiting email confirmation" and had not yet been activated. As a show of good faith, all of these accounts have been placed in the registered user group and can start posting.

There were also 93 accounts that had made posts in the past but somehow had gotten stuck in the "awaiting email confirmation" category. To clean things up, all of these accounts have been put back in the registered section and can resume posting.
