Oh God Kara, WORK WARNING! My eyes! What was seen cannot BE UNSEEN! 
I'm off to Crete in a few weeks for my friends' wedding, going to lie around on the beach, avoid the elderly Greek side of the one family and the insanely-rich-on-oil-money side of the other family, and hang out with my friends.
Then going to Egypt in November with some other friends from NZ. Going to be good, but won't have any leave left for months

The Flight: Booze, Blues & Kangaroos.
No upgrades to business class this time, slumming it with the best of them. I ws dreading this flght but it's amazing how quickandhowmuch fun a 30hr jourey cn be when your out yer nut.
whisky, rum and xanax before i'd even reached edi departure lounge, in a nick onthe flight tolondon spilling drinks, getting lost and being unbleto locte my seat, fun times.
more rum on the london to singapore flight and more blues....flying is the right word. I was sitting singing and dancing in my seat to the smiths before zonking out ad waking in singapore, more blues and booze and slept all the way to Aus, jetlag....pfffft!
Arrivedin in brissyto pouring rain but now the sun is splitting the pavement, sunburnt already. Dunno what the craic here is yet seems nice tho, had a nice river walk today. Fun times ahead.
oh and about the kangaroosi made that bit up.

glad you got there ok though and you should try and spend your time having fun rather than looking for internet cafes to satisfy your bluelight habit.:D

Good on yer Spade, long flights = benzos ftw. They should give them out for free at the airport. Jetlag wouldn't exist.

Im just back but already making plans for my next trip, sooner I can get an idea sorted, some plans underway the sooner I'll be motivated to get a job, make some cash and get to fuck out of here again.
Just been reading through this thread, it's a funny one, and I'm now sure Kids never been travelling in his life.
Either things have changed in the past few years or you were exagerating. They couldn't have been nicer to me, the customs official looked at my passport, realised I had overstayed, told me to follow this hot women to a desk about 5 yards away and the boy at the desk said "ah 2 days over stayed, one day no fine but 2 days 1000 baht please". I handed it over, he stamped it, made me sign a form and thanked me for coming to Thailand. No ban, no shouting, no stress took all of 2 minutes. Everything was in English too and they explained exactly what they were doing.
Nonsense. I never once paid even as much as AUD30 for a bed. I stayed in private rooms in Brissy and Airlie Beach for less than AUD30. Dorms were around AUD15-AUD25 max. So I doubt years and years earlier they were MORE expensive.
So that was May 2009 and it's now 9 months later and you're still not there nor do you seem to have any plans to go. Sort it out son, pack in boozing and drugging and get saving!
Set a plan, book a flight, just have something set in concrete and do it. Everyone needs to go travelling it's the most amazing experience you can ever have and it's more fun than you can possibly imagine. You think you have fun at home at the weekends, everyday is a weekend in Thailand and Aus. You'll be out every night with different folk, boozing in the street in Asia, smoking opium, boshing ya ba pills, taking mushies and fucking filthy thai women. :D
Funny that I just spent 3 weeks there and visited a total of 4 times in the past 6 months and didn't want to leave and now love the place.
I'd also like to mention that Emirates have shite service though I'm sure they claim to be one of the best. Slow as fuck when it comes to checking in. I arrived an hour before check in was due to open and still queued for 2hrs, they had more desks open for first and business class travellers which there must be about 50 of max than they did for the rest of us.
Then when on the plane we waited around for an hour n half on the runway with no explanation (turns out some arab bloke wasn't happy with the leg room - which was better than usual - and decided that after a big argument and offers to swap seats he'd take him and his extended family off the flight meaning all their bags need to be located and turfed off too), they took a fucking age to serve drinks and food. I was choking for a drink and was given food first which I didn't even want to eat because it was all so shit and dry, not one of the 3 meals was decent. They then took over an hour after everyone had finished eating to clear away the trays and when you asked for a drink it was made to be a big hassle and they ran out of rum before they reached my seat and only had 1 vodka left. This was on the flight from Dubai to Glasgow too so surely they realised they were going to have a flight of jakies to deal with. I paid 600 quid for this one way flight you cunts, get me a fucking bevvie now and stop serving me shite food, even a weegie wouldn't eat the shite we got.
