Punk Fuckin Rock

Used to be really into punk... still have a lot of punk friends, and associate with politically radical types, but I don't listen to the genre any more. I can't stand what I see as the insularity in the scene, to be honest, so not only have I drifted away from it but I've been pushed away from it. For all their talk of free-mindednes and liberation and what not, there are a hell of a lot of punks who seem to think that anyone who doesn't dress like them or listen to their music or think completely like them is someone not worth being around. Different lifestyles, oh my god, how threatening...

used to feel this way too for along time, left the punk scene for the militant anarchist scene, and found the same thing.

never met a group of people who aren't all sheep, but punk music is still so fucking good, the fuck society aspect of it still speaks to me in a way nothing else can. don't go to alot of shows, or hang out in the scene, but still love the music, and still listening to new stuff when i find something good.

great shit.

Why did no one mention Articles Of Faith or Rich Kids On LSD yet? I love them. :)

My favorite band is NOFX, funny etc. =D

I usually listen to classic us hardcore punk (Dead Kennedys, Minor Threat, Bad Brains, Adolescents, Adrenalin O.D., D.R.I., R.K.L, Circle Jerks, T.S.O.L., Agnostic Front, etc.) although I never was into a 'punk scene'.

Or:

This Is Boston Not L.A. comp.
Peace/War comp.
Flex Your Head comp.

Hüsker Dü
Gorilla Biscuits
Rancid
Refused
The Damned
Bad Religion
Misfits
Septic Death
Dropkick Murphys
Minutemen
Strung Out
D.O.A
Joy Division

I barely listen to other music. One or two bands of some other genre I oddly like.
Electronic music (techno, rave, house ....) is pain in my ears unless I'm totally wasted.

Well, I used to love 'punk' (which the meaning of has been stretched and completely distorted) and I still enjoy a few bands. In my opinion, the only punk worth listening to is:
Dead Kennedys (Jello got it right when he said 'punk means thinking for yourself')
Choking Victim (Morning Glory, Leftover Crack, Star Fucking Hipsters, etc. All works of Stza Crack, who I don't entirely agree with but has some good ideas and music nonetheless).
And a few NOFX and Bad Brains songs, hell, even that Toy Dolls Idle Gossip song is catchy..
No one hit the nail on the head like Jello Biafra did, though.. Jello for President!

i guess i just have to post this because it seems right:

Aza, Stza Crack, and Tony Crosseyes throwing up the Wu bats.

Strung Out.

What about Flipper?

Yes! I went through a phase of listening to Sex Bomb several times a day for weeks/months :|

Also got to see them play live with Novoselic on bass :) I then stood next to him coming up on MDMA whilst The Stooges were playing <3 (he's a giant) thats my claim to fame.

to me the Ramones really are the best band of all time

with the Stooges coming in close second.

I like alot of punk. Anti heroes, The Business, Lars and the bastards, Rancid, Skrewdriver.. oh man the list can go on and on.
