Television King of the Hill

I thought it was OK. I liked that it made fun of backwards hicks and know-it-all liberals in equal measure. Never gut-bustingly hilarious. The jokes made me smile more than laugh.

It had its charm.

Although the comedy pokes fun it is never overly cruel and this is definitely part of it's appeal

Luanne: but i didn't see anything
Peggy: YOU SAW YOUR UNCLE HANK'S NIPPLES!

one of the first KOTH lines that had me rolling on the floor :D

When Hank and Peggy are at the gate of the millitary academy that Bobby is at:

When Peggy is pressing the intercom button demanding to be let in;

"Oh my God, What if the wires from this button are attached to his nipples"

*As she keeps pressing it* :D :D

I was rolling my ass off when I first saw that. =D

I used to hate Peggy but she really grew on me hah, such an inflated sense of self importance. The fact that dale is basically a composite of Hunter S Thompson and William Burroughs also makes it one of the coolest shows ever made.

Dale is one of my favorite characters of all time.

I definitely exhibit some "Dale Gribble" characteristics. Especially the eccentric, apocalypse preparation theme :D

I loved his 55 gallon drums of mountain dew in the basement. =D

the voice actor has actually said that dales voice is his terrible attempt at a burroughs impression. add the exterminator job and the fear of government and it's not hard to add up :D dale not realising joseph isn't his son is constantly hillarious.

When John Redcorn is climbing into Nancy's bedroom.

"Dale, I didn't want you to find out like this."

"Get inside and take take of my wife."

"You've got to be kidding." "He really is starting to take some of the fun out of this."

=D

And who can forget Bill Dauterive :)

When talking with the buddhist monk;

"So how many year you been celibate?"

"3 years"

"Yep, the 4th is the tough one."

That had me in stitches :D

This show also has some of the best voice acting I've seen out of any animated show. I'm not sure how the episodes are previewed there but the guest voices were never a selling point in the adverts here. I just remember the episode with Boomhauer's brother and at the end realising holy fuck that was Brad Pitt! Brittany Murphy is excellent, her voice is the reason I've had a pseudo crush on LUanne since 98 :D.

It's in my top 5 favorite tv shows.

I agree that it is much better than any of the so called comedy sit-coms on tv. In my opinion, most other animated shows don't even come close to competing with king of the hill.

King of the hill is infinitely better than family guy or american dad.

The show had a hell of a run, lots of laughs. I'll miss it, but they have dvd's.

Just noticed I have more replies than anyone else in this thread but never mind. One of my favourite Simpsons jokes is when Bart is flicking channels and you can just hear "Bobby! I've got propane in my urethra!" sums up the show to a tee :D

Yeah, me too. :D

Completely unrelated, but I also used to have a crush on Jane from Daria.

there's some kind of tenuous mike judge link there so i think it's just on topic enough :D

dale's brilliant

"this door seems to have some strange anti-opening device"

I can do a great Hank "gasp". [GAAAAAHH!]

I say "Bobby, if you weren't my son, I'd hug you," at least once a day. :D

Just got into this show. I never used to like it much. Avoided it for a long time. Now that my tastes have changes, it's possibly my favorite cartoon of all time.

There is so much heart in King of the Hill and the characters are incredibly consistent. Homer Simpson ceased to be a human being a long time ago and became a thing. Hank Hill is a husband, a father, and a propane salesman.

The social commentary is there as well. The only thing missing is an abundance of dick jokes and slapstick, which I don't really have any tolerance for anymore.

I've enjoyed watching King of the Hill more than any animated show I can remember. Hank isn't an instantly likable character. King doesn't jump back flips to try and impress us. It doesn't rely on shock humor or absurd scenarios. It doesn't jump the shark. Ever.

Great show. 13 seasons is enough, though.
