Joaquin Phoenix retires from Acting

Me thinks DarthMom had something to do with the new Joanquin Joint and is taking the criticism to heart. He's horrible!

A lot of actors follow their dreams, as you put it. Releasings cds and whatnot. They at least have the good sense to keep their day job.

I guess it depends on how you measure success. But yeah you're probably right. Does that mean though, because they are successful, I can't have an opinion about their work? Cause he can't rap for shit. I'm not sure why that offends you.

I am not (nor is anyone else on this thread) interfering with the mans dreams.

i meant to put a smiley on that, that sounded snarky sorry :D

Dude grew up in the "Children of God" cult (advocate teaching children how to have sex then have the children have sex with the adults and other children). There is no way he's right in the head. At least, there is no way I'd be right in the head with a childhood like that. :\

I am now pretty sure this is all one big hoax.

I don't get the joke. Maybe if this was a person known for his humor and not his hairlip.....

I didn't notice the giant hole in his pants on his crotch until now. More fail. 8(

lol
this Letterman clip is fun

i hope he is not really that broken in is mind...

at least Crispin Glover was on acid...(or was he...)

yeah crispin is the king of letterman freak outs. good stuff.

he now plays up the whole mystique of what was going on that night.

Phoenix: 'I'll Be Remembered For My Music, Not Acting'
16 February 2009 5:30 PM, PST

Actor-turned-rapper Joaquin Phoenix hopes his movie career will become insignificant as he becomes the new Eminem.

The Walk The Line star recently announced his plans to quit acting and concentrate on making music, and, despite criticism and claims his news is just a hoax, Phoenix insists he's deadly serious about never appearing before the cameras again.

He tells WENN his rap career "has been brewing for a long time" and he has flirted with the idea of quitting acting.

But, learning to play the guitar for Johnny Cash biopic Walk The Line was the catalyst Phoenix needed to give up his movie career.

He explains, "I’ve always loved music and never really played anything, and, after Walk The Line, I kind of learned to play guitar and having that sense of performing, that certainly opened the door for me for music.

"I think now I would just like the music to speak for itself. I don’t think we’ll ever get to the reason, 'Oh, that’s why he quit and this is why he’s doing this.' I don’t fully understand it myself. I’ve always followed my heart and felt what was true at the time and that’s what I’m doing now.

"I’m not out to sell records. I’m experiencing something and it’s what I feel. I feel like everything in my life is leading up to this and suddenly acting doesn’t seem like that’s a big part of what was important in my life.

"I imagine, when I look back on my life, acting will be just a very small portion of something that I did, and I think music will be the dominant theme in my life."

Bearded Phoenix admits he was taken aback by the fuss his decision to quit acting caused: "I didn’t know that anyone was gonna care. I felt that it was an obligation to tell my fans what I was doing, moving in another direction."

I'm still leaning towards mentally unstable rather than a hoax. He is right about one thing though. If he does pursue this career in rap, that will be his legacy. He'll forever be known as the nutjob that had a good movie career going and pissed it all away to "bust some dope rhymes and tight beats."

It vexes me. I'm terribly vexed.

Both Crispin Glover and J. Phoenix were on a low dose of LSD while on Letterman.
