Thanks for that. Sifrol is a brand name for the Parkinson’s disease medication pramipexole, a D2 and D3 dopamine agonist. it is used for RLS and is now being considered as an augmentation agent for major depression. regarding dopamine receptors, yes, there are many subtypes but the D1, D2 and to a lesser extent, the D3 receptors are most important when it comes to mood regulation and psychoactive drug affects. compulsive behaviour including hypersexuality are linked to D2 receptor activation. this is why Parkinson’s disease drugs including pramipexole have been used off label for treating sexual dysfunction.
On the topic of selegiline, it has also been shown to cause hypersexuality in some Parkinsons patience and has been used by some older people to increase their libido. as I mentioned in my selegiline thread, i’ve become considerably less resilient to stress and each time I experience a stressful event, The longer my depressive symptoms and negative mood/Anxiety persist afterwards. I also suffered a few months of severe anhedonia at which point, my libido dropped to 0 despite being extremely high my entire life. thankfully, I’ve recovered from that, but I’m hoping that Selegiline will treat my lifelong chronic fatigue and extreme laziness/procrastination as well as make me more resilient to stress.
