Nice one Ms.Bus, glad you're enjoying being a granny! Tbh, I'm bloody dreading becoming a grandparent - reckon I'm gonna have to research stealth sterilisation techniques for my kids before they feel the urge to procreate.


Tonight, for the first time since I was 17, I'm drugless, boozeless and fagless - totally fuckin straight (except for a moderate caffeine buzz as I've been drinking Nescafe like it's going out of fashion). The strange thing is, I actually feel pretty good - though I'm sure that won't last...
 
Ah it's great being a grandparent when the parents of the baby are good & ready for it (& don't live with me ha, though a bit closer than a 2 hour drive would be better)

First straight night in 50 years eh, that's pretty good going ;)
I can cope nights without drugs & fags, but I'm still working up to the boozeless night.....it needs to be done to be sure

Never saw the appeal of vapes. If you're using them to cut down in aid of quitting, great. If you're using them to blow huge clouds of strawberry and lime smelling stuff in the wishful hope you think you'll look cool, then you're a douche bag. But in saying that, competitive vaping is actually considered a "sport" now. So, neckbeards at least have a reason to leave their mothers basements these days.

The only reason I've bought another vape is to try and cut down on baccy, because since the minimum available pack size increased to 30g, I'm smoking like a fuckin chimney!

For all the utter bollocks the govt spouts about 'encouraging' (I.e browbeating) people to cut down on tobacco, forcing them to buy BIGGER packs of burn, it shows that they are indulging in nothing but the rankest of hypocrisy and lies, just to profiteer off tobacco buyers, sellers and growers.

Yeah I never understood the logic behind the minimum 30g packs. That and the blank packaging which has done fuck all to actually stop anyone from buying the stuff. It's just now it's more difficult to find in the shop and they're buying bigger amounts and smoking more.

Would be like the government saying "you're allowed to buy heroin but only if you get a gram at a time" because that would lower your use... :?

Yep. That is almost word for word the same argument I use when moaning about these new rules.
 
I had a chat with a shopkeeper a while back, and he told me he HAD to sell fags, because it was the only thing keeping his business afloat, by getting people in to buy other things. And told me something more. That HE makes 2 pence on a 20 pack of fags, the tobacco grower gets 4p and the government steal the rest. And whilst I agree its an unhealthy habit, sure, its people's fucking choice. The government doesn't own us. And they'd tighten the noose still further if they could. But there comes a point where there literally isn't any more money to steal and there would be that 1-pence transition between rapacious taxation and theft, and switching to literally government-sponsoring of tobacco purchases.

Every damn government arseburglar, they deserve to be wrapped up in a paper and burnt slowly. Fucking thieving hypocritical lying rat the fuck cocksucking whoremongering bastards.
 
And that's the true reason for the 30g minimum sizes. To get people more hooked so the government keeps their cash cow.
 
Just about every shop I know sells under the counter fags from europe - 6.50 Malboro lights , 50g G Virginia 12 quid. Just ask for a packet of cigarettes or a pouch of tobacco without specifiying or ask if they have imported smokes.

I'm guessing the thinking behind it is that a child would have to get a substantial amount of money together to purchase tobacco, a large investment in a non trendy looking drug that has zero effect. As they are not raging nico-addicts clucking for more they would hopefully be more likely to spend their pocket money on other shinier and cooler looking things.

Back in the day you could buy cigarettes singly under the counter, which meant a child could easily develop an addiction just with pocket money, dinner money and minor acts of extortion. This child nowadays would have to either up their thug life game considerably, form a smokers co-operative or hopefully go and do something more worthwhile with their ill gotten gains.

Don't know where she's going when she's dead, but if any culture got it right over the millennia then wherever it is, is going to be SOME sort of horrible, anal-rape-torture-demon-infested underworld, whatever particular 'underworld below the underworld' they happen to have had, is probably going to be it.

If the greeks got it right, fr.ex. then Hades is going to have to call in contractors to install a whole new abyss underneath Tartarus. Somewhere deep enough that when Cerberus takes a shit off the edge it'll fall for so long before hitting that odious, criminal toxic slag in the face it is going to have become a coprolite in the meantime.
