Rogue One I felt was really good and really Force Awakens was really good at the time. There were some things that were interesting Justin Theroux, Laura Dern, Benicio Del Toro, Snoke...there was a bit of weight with Carrie Fisher being dead and having Mark Hamill back for more screen time was great.
And what in the hell did Yoda say about being a Master Jedi? I thought he was going to say something important but the line seemed off.
But was it Empire Strikes Back? No, not by a long shot. Ill admit the editing was tighter in Last Jedi more than Rogue One. But where was the soundtrack?
I had an idea that maybe what might have been an idea was to do Empire Strikes back in reverse? Last Jedi they do "Hoth" last, there's a bit of mirroring with Luke and Rey on the mountain island, some with Benicio Del Toro as the sort of Lando character.
Overall, I'd say I had more film thoughts with the Ford ad beforehand and thinking I was trapped in some sort of Brave New World rehash, stuck at the feelies, which makes me feel I should probably reread the book.
And in retrospect I think possibly Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith may seem better now with last jedi coming out. Even Phantom Menace
Overall, I'd say Daisy Ridley probably has the most attractive face on the planet, and certain scenes were awesome. Poe's x-wing scene in the beginning. The fight scene with Ben and Rey and Snoke. The fight scene with Finn and Phasma with the closeup, my god put that on a poster.
It was a lot visually to take in and visually stunning. The narrative is a bit weak and lacks a real true badmon. Im not really sure movies will be up to having literally a bad ass nigga in a black helmet taking names.
