What kind of music to listen to

I have plenty of badass trance/techno/dance songs that were great with my last roll but I'm wondering how some good, lovey-dovey songs might add to the mix? Which are better worth investing into?

Should I be careful about romantic songs that might have the smallest bit of melancholy in them? I plan to avoid songs like the ones on the Titanic soundtrack for this reason.

You should avoid celine dion no matter your sobriety.

Yes, kids, tell us your lovey-dovey songs/artists/albums that fit with trance/techno, or at least bright and happy, along the lines of Lemon Jelly

Always!

I find that my taste in music is different when i'm on drugs like MDMA.
Stuff that i'd normally like often sounds shit, whereas stuff that i might not like normally can sound great on E - which is kinda fascinating to me because i really love music and am quite opinionated, but it can change rather dramatically when i'm wasted.

I'd suggest not trying to pre-empt it, and just see what sounds right when you're high.

Here's the thing, I get impatient with my roll knowing I don't have all the time in the world so I end up blazing thru my songs, only listening to the climax and moving on before the comedown starts. But I'm thinking this is not a positive move to make, being all stingy, it kind of defeats the point about wanting to be happy and relaxed, right? I'm serious about not wanting to waste my roll, tho. I already did that with porn last time. None of it felt good to watch. Not even with the sexy music some of them had. Yuck.

That's why I'm thinking more along the lines of exposing myself to lovey-dovey stuff, like romantic music/scenes which might be beneficial to a roll, or stuff like videos of kittens and puppies.

Avoiding Celine Dion is common sense, but what about this song? https://www.sendspace.com/file/w738pj
When I'm sober, this relaxes me but I'm reluctant to take the risk of listening to this while high because there's a hint of sadness in that song for me for some reason and I fear ecstasy will amplify it.

Do you ever go out and dance or mix with people on mdma?
I personally find watching tv or passively listening to music can be a bit boring. I mean, each to their own - but rather than watch a video of a puppy, why not hang out with a friend who has a puppy...or go to a club or a party and enjoy the music, rather than obsessing over what you're going to listen to next?

Not criticising, of course - but i find drug experiences a lot more satisfying when i'm doing things rather than just watching them. I feel better afterwards and don't worry about wasting drugs.
I mean, there is nothing wrong with sitting at home and listening to music on drugs (!), but if you really want to get the most out of MDMA, i really think it helps to be hanging out with other people, if possible.
The whole "set and setting" concept is just as relevant to MDMA as it is to psychedelics, in my opinion.

No, I am a shut-in. I don't like bonding with people. It makes me uncomfortable. And I especially don't trust other people to be around me when I'm in a vulnerable state.

Fair enough.
In that case, do you have room to dance in your house? :)

I do but I resisted the urge before as I knew I'd probably dance for 10 hours straight and exhaust the hell out of myself but I realize now that's useless because I felt exhausted anyway. I'm thinking next time I should let it happen when Molly is trying to make me feel good.

Bjork could be considered "lovey-dovey" and shes got some GREAT tunes to throw in the mix.
"Post" is a great album to dip into, if im just pickin one off the top of my head.....

On MDMA or similar action chem I'd listen to Beach House, old albums by Royksopp, Washed Out, Sound Tribe Sector 9, Dirty Art Club, old albums by Parov Stellar, Bonobo, Emancipator, Adam Freeland. Happy chilling! ;)

Thank you! I know one out of that lineup, and like it/them, so that's a good sign (I know I'm not OP, but I seconded it).

Yeah, @Inds, or I should say, Celine, no way I'm falling for that.

If you're talking MDMA, may I suggest the works of Amon Tobin, namely the Bricolage and Permutations albums. They aren't lovey-dovey though.

I'll take a look at them. But I'm not trolling you with my link, it was a serious question.

About Bjork, isn't that the singer that weirdo Ricardo Lopez was obsessed with who shot himself because she didn't answer his fan mail or something?

Whoa! Im not sure(im unfamiliar with ricardo lopez) but youve got me curious now to look it up...

On a side note, I can honestly admit i was super in love with her throughout the 90s and her music(along with mazzy star) became my sex music for a few years...hehehe

On another sidenote, Tricky produced "post" so it definitely had a massive attack-esque hip-hop/electronic/downtempo/etc sound more so than a lot of her other stuff

He was recording when he killed himself. The video is all over the net. He wanted to splatter his brains all over a poster of Bjork while her music was playing while a letter with a bomb attached to it was on its way to her. Pretty messed up. :)

You would think this would motivate me to listen to some of her music but I didn't. I will now, tho. Is it fun to listen on e as well?

that's horrible :(

bjork is much more than a 'singer' i think. she's a very interesting artist.

her music would be perfect for mdma in my opinion.

Ya never mind after googling a bit of lovey Dovey this stuff I posted ain't it sorry. Good luck , I'll keep my eye out for something.

I was gonna make fun of you all for rec. music that was top40 when I was in HS, but then I remember "Joga" from Bjork off Homogenic, and that does ooze some MDMA all over the place. And IDK, if a friend is on some psychedelics, maybe he'll actually understand some of the vocals-only later albums.

So, Ms. Dion, @Inds, I originally thought you meant more of a "bright cheery" sound, then remembered that's what I wanted, you want "lovey-dovey", so are you saying you'll have a companion? Because that changes the playlist quite a bit.

My only companion will be Molly. Bright and cheery does sound good. Basically, I was welcoming tunes that would feed the loved-up effects of ecstasy. Maybe I was doing it right the first time with all the trippy dance albums but I spent the peak of my roll in the shower 2 months ago so I'm yet to experience the proverbial blast of dancing on e.
