I'm going to echo Keif' here. This is my experience: I have been taking Alprazolam 0.25mg very occasionally (bottle of 30, 0.25mg would last me 6 mos or so), for severe situational panic attacks for years. It's honestly the only thing that helps me personally when that hits. Then, a few years ago, I went on a 10 day "vacation" to Yellowstone for an in-law family reunion FROM HELL. Long story short, my mother in law is a narcissist with borderline personality disorder and she invited my mom, who also has the same diagnoses (what are the damn odds I'd get TWO!?), without speaking to me first. I wasn't on the best terms with my mom at the time. We live close enough to drive and of course my mother had to go with us on that 7 hr drive. Add my moronic, just like his mom, bro in law/wife with 4 MONSTERS (I love most kids, this is no exaggeration), 2 other siblings/spouses and 7 more kids, my husband and I, and 2 crazy moms in ONE large cabin for 10 days. I started empathizing for The Donner Party. Anyhoo, before I left, my doc upped my dose to 0.5mg and gave me 60 tabs, in anticipation of this shit show. I was popping every time my eye twitched or I felt generally homocidal (every 3 hrs). By the time I got home (nearly HITCH HIKED from Jackson Hole 2 days before), all but 6 were gone. I didn't take any the next day, because I didn't need it, but I realized I may be dependent because I had headaches and felt generally sick. No seizures or anything like that, I tapered quickly in 3 days. I just took 0.75mg day 1, then 0.5mg, then 0.25mg and stopped for awhile. If you do feel sick, and are concerned, try that. If you feel like you have an addiction, benzos can get dangerous. Switch to something like Hydroxizine or Vistral (propanol). They're also good for allergies, but are non habit forming. Good luck!
