The 'What Have You Bought Recently?' Thread - Because Summer Is a Show Off

Curious24 that's not gonna backfire at all next time you're whipping our your 500$ parfums again :sus::D

I honestly can't equate 'fun' with 4 wheeled vehicles. Yes, the obscenely expensive penis extensions may have a lot of 'potential' bhp, but where would you use it on this country? I think that for a cage to be really fun, it would require the power to weight ratio of a bike - I know these cars do exist, but they also carry all of the disadvantages of 4 wheels - i.e. too fuckin wide. Yes 4 wheels may be useful, but they're shit at 'fun'...

Because Fu, I can have the mrs and kids in, a week of shopping and still play like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Q_G6-UT_qA

Whilst not my car, it is a saab 9-5 aero hot, stage 3 tuned, all the gubbins, fsh, diy servicing 84 k and it cost less than £2800 for an 07 plate 300bhp and 480nm are plenty for most roads and its fine as a daily driver.

Whilst it will never beat a bike for excitement, as a practical thing its unbeatable.

Er, shouldn't you be watching the road, not the dials? =D

Like I say, that's not me, that's just a stage 3 9-5 aero, mines an estate, so hardly a hooning car, especially not if others are in with me, but I will always admit to be being a big kid, being shoved back in the seat by acceleration is fun, course you can only do it for about 10 secs when the conditions are right these days, but I take my pleasures where I get them these days.

A mate of mine had one of the old Saab 900 turbos. He used to relish accelerating extremely hard at every available opportunity - at the same time as talking and looking directly at me. I was sat gripping the seat in fear for my life....

I had a 9-3 turbo. Great cars, massively underrated IMO.

Ahhh a big powerful good handling car is in the same realm as a good bike! I get serious pleasure driving my cars fast and especially getting them to step out on corners! My bike is great fun for being on the 'razors edge' but don't get put off with having twice as many wheels!
Also power ain't the factor in cars IMO! My engine is mechanically capable of 800bhp and I could easily push my car to that, but what's the point? I have more fun with a totally useable 400 than 800 and a week of lag every gear change.....

Fucking right. %) I miss my Mazda RX-8 every day and shed a little tear every time I see one. Rear wheel drive is insanely good fun. :D

The most "fun" car I've ever driven (apart from the RX-8 ) was a workmate's Impreza WRX STi. He gave me a drive of it one lunchtime (very trusting!) and I spent a glorious half an hour tearing the arse out of her along quiet country roads. The turbo on those things is fucking addictive and great fun.

Still can't beat a bike for sheer exhilaration and acceleration though.

Me too! I miss my RX8 (and to a lesser extent, the Saab 9-3) every single time I set off for work in the family Mondeo. :(

The 335i, however, can get to fuck.

I didn't know (or had forgotten, more likely 8) ) that you'd had an RX-8!

Mine was a 55 plate 192bhp in dark blue. What did you have? :)

A 55 plate 231 in silver. Loved that car. All the turbocharged hatchbacks would pull away off the line, then after 5000rpm they'd be done and I'd still have another 4500rpm left to play with!

Bought her at two and a half years old with 25,000 miles on the clock. Cost me a shade over 10k (which is crazy considering the performance available). Engine went bang in 2012, I spent £2,500 having it rebuilt only for it to go again a year and a half later. The end of an era, no less.

How many times did you flood yours?

I test drove a silver 231 before I bought mine. With the dealer in the passenger seat, shitting himself. ;)

The rev range on them was like on a motorbike. I want to fucking cry now. :(

Pfft.. A 1970s Triumph Bonneville would leave the lot of you standing...
