Benzos What's the fun side of the xanax?

I read pretty often that if you take enough xanax you can have such a great time, that it is funny and so on

but frankly... nah? I have zero tolerance, so the only time I took 1mg and drank (poor decision) I had to call the night very early because I couldn't stand on my feet and crash into my car in order to sleep for a few hours before being able to slowly drive to home.

Other times I tried it I managed to find a good balance, that for me is 0.5mg + alcohol (just beer and/or wine, nothing with higher graduation): this way I can basically get drunk with minimum side effects the next day. BUT I used to forget things, almost whole nights. So I decided to use the xanax only for my anxiety problems.

So I am curious: what's the fun of the xanax? I can't get it. I guess it's just me, but I'd like to know anyway, I feel like someone who is been locked out the party :\

are you of a nervous disposition? often this 'high' people describe is the sudden recession of all their neuroses and anxieties, not so much euphoria, more akin to relief.

I agree.
The "high" of benzos is the relief of stress, anxiety, tension and sometimes they're muscle relaxant properties aid in the feeling of a "high/buzz"
If you indeed have such problems, I wouldn't use them for anything but said problems. If you do, limit it.

Dependence and withdrawal is far worse than opiates/opioids. They can actually kill you, with opiates you only feel like dying.

Xanax, for me at least, is definitely the most euphoric of the benzos but nothing like opiates. It does however, initially, make everything ok. House on fire? No worries, lets calmly saunter out the door! Got fired? Oh well work wasnt much fun anyways. It just makes everything alright.. not a problem in the world.

Also heed the warning. Benzo withdrawal is fucking insane. Even a .25 mg drop every ten days was one of the worst times of my life. 11 months of everything being 100% opposite of OK.. everything is a catastrophe. Cant find your keys? END OF THE FUCKING WORLD!! Dog pee'd on the floor? OMG THAT DOG IS GETTING PUT TO SLEEP! It's raining today? I'M GOING TO CRY AND SCREAM AT THE CLOUDS!!

Benzo withdrawal is definitely dangerous/deadly with the seizure risk, but a lot different than WD from opiates. For me at least, the emotional instability with Benzo WD was almost unbearable and i never found anything that helped...except more benzos or contemplating suicide. WD from something like H or fent, can leave me an emotional wreck, but it's more physical which can be mitigated -with benzos, muscle relaxers, clonidine , kratom -and is also so short lived relative to a taper from a high daily dose of a benzo.

I dont even take xanax anymore, after my addiction to it, all legally obtained in huge doses, it actually makes me feel sick to my stomach. I dont puke or anything just feel queasy like i was slightly poisoned. Now i take valium. Much smoother effects and i actually do not really abuse it. One thing i will say about Benzos though, your tolerance definitely does go away with time unlike opiates. MY opiate tolerance never seems to go away even after long long breaks... but if i'm off benzos for a while tolerance goes back to baseline like i was benzo naive.

those are my coffee fueled morning ramblings on the subject :)

You're not a high-strung person are you? lol

The great thing about Xanax is the relief. If you take the right dose when you're more experience, it's like a cleaner drunken feeling. Alprazolam shouldn't be first tried with alcohol, that's like saying, hey, this is your first time taking opioids, and you're taking a roxi 30? Here, take some shots with me. Alcohol and Benzodiazepines work off of the same receptor and by causing synergistic effects, things can get really sloppy if you don't have the tolerance due to the chloride ion density. To get a feel for it, You need to take it on it's own at first, or if you insist on combining depressants, I think a low dose opioid would be wiser than another GABA-agonist. Nursing books advise to drop the dose of each drug by at least 25% in clinical situations.

Say you would take 2mg of Xanax on it's own and 20mg of Percocet on it's own, take 1-1.5mg of the Xanax, and 10-15mg of the oxy, see how you feel in 30-45 minutes, and go from there. But as the poster above me stated. There are few things worse than Benzodiazepine withdrawal, especially when you're cut cold turkey from an equivalent of 8.7mg of Xanax daily. The only things worst I've seen as far as completely fucking you up for a long time in the drug world is alcohol detox and Barbiturate detox. Never cared for liquor, but don't get me started on Barbiturate withdrawal.

And perhaps for her, it was more mental, but she had a very slow taper off of her Xanax, mine was just gone. A psych ward decided to "taper me" without even telling me; I got my 2mg dose in the morning, then without any clue about the change, I walk up to .5mg., I got 3 days, then I got booted for insurance, and I was in the ER with delirium tremors a BP of 170/110, and a pulse of 150. Normally ER's don't send people to drive home after administering narcotics...they gave me one dose of Xanax, and one dose of Norco so I could leave.

I suffer from anxiety but I decided time ago to take it only when I have a pretty bad anxiety attack or in certain situations before going to sleep.

However, I tried to self medicate me in the past because of said anxiety I wasn't even able to make a damn phone call... it was useful, but I had a little taste of wd (didn't imagine could be as bad as described though), memory issues, mood shifts... so I decided to give it a cut.

This said, I do understand the relief. I tried xanax alone and okay the relief is its thing, but so that's the recreational use? really? I don't know, maybe I expected something more... funny. Not that I want to use it that way, I'm just trying to understand and feed my ignorance.

I took 1mg of Xanax not knowing what it was, first thing I ever did...before weed, I had drank a beer or two, but never got a buzz. I felt a buzz off those 2 peach footballs, but barely anything in comparison to different things I tried. I didn't understand Xanax until I had a fair amount of anxiety on a consistent basis. When Chronic Pain was exponentially modified by being thrown from a moving vehicle, and self-medicating chronic pain with MS-Contin and Norco daily, and I lost my income, I really got Xanax and loved it. Maybe the chronic pain has a lot to do with it. I'm already an anxious blob of carbon without the severe pain; and when you add it in, it increases your anxiety, which in turn increases your pain, and you get the vicious cycle cliche. Aside from Halcion or anything IV, sublingual Alprazolam is the quickest hitting benzodiazepine and, considering the largest dosing unit of Halcion is .25mg, it packs the biggest punch. I prefer to cop Xanax over Norco, because while my tolerance to both is fucking insane, I would take the Xanax, because it makes me care less about the pain as well as acts as a pretty strong muscle relaxant.

Xanax is my 2nd favorite benzo, right after Klonopin.

I describe Xanax as a instant rush/relaxation, for a few hours.

Klonopin, on the other hand, is just as strong, if not stronger than Xanax, it has a half life of about 50 hours, very long half life, compared to Xanax, 4-11 hours.

Klonopin doesn't kick in until a couple hours, and doesn't give you a rush type feeling like Xanax does, but the relaxation of Klonopin is WAY better than Xanax, and you feel good on it ALL day, you don't have to keep re-dosing like you have to with Xanax.
Klonopin also has muscle relaxation properties, where Xanax doesn't.

I call Klonopin the older brother of Xanax, haha.

Klonopin, imo, is a mixture of Valium + Xanax. The strength of Xanax, and the long half life and muscle relaxing properties of Valium.

Klonopin <3

Xanax actually does have skeletal muscle relaxant properties. And if you're a dumbass like me and have a problem when I find something that relieves an ailment, you see how far it can go and get to the point that Clonazepam is too gradual acting to feel any relief in the realm of anxiety. The only help it would do me was if I was detoxing, or it might help with my IBS. When it comes to smoother benzos. Diazepam is my favorite. It's not super subtle and actually gets to work fairly quickly. Not as big of a punch as Alprazolam, but enough to take charge of the situation. Despite it's half-life of 65-ish hours, it's short acting, but with it's long half-life, each dose gets stronger.where Xanax goes from 20 times the strength of Diazepam to the point it's only 10 times the strength. All benzos suck to dt from, but Diazepam is an odd one. In comparison, it's much, much softer of a detox than Alprazolam, however, it lasts like 6 fucking weeks when you go cold turkey, and it comes in waves, like you'll feel a little better after a week, but it will get just as bad as it was for a few days. Add dt'ing from ProSom (Estazolam at the same time), it's a fucking bitch.

Jktm-

LOL @ calling yourself a dumbass, but I myself, am not a dumbass. I don't believe you're a dumb ass, either.

The WIKIPEDIA page/website is by far the most accurate on what drugs are, how they're taken, what they're used for, etc.

You are RIGHT about Xanax having some muscle relaxant properties.
I re-searched a bit more, and found this-

XANAX

Alprazolam (trade name Xanax, available under other generic names, is a short-acting anxiolytic of the benzodiazepine class of psychoactive drugs. Alprazolam, like other benzodiazepines, binds to specific sites on the GABAA receptor. Alprazolam is commonly used and FDA approved for the medical treatment of panic disorder, and anxiety disorders, such as generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) or social anxiety disorder (SAD). Alprazolam is available for oral administration in compressed tablet (CT) and extended-release capsule (XR) formulations. Alprazolam possesses anxiolytic, sedative, hypnotic, skeletal muscle relaxant, anticonvulsant, and amnestic properties.

Thanks for clearing that up, man. But by experience of actually using alprazolam, I don't really feel any muscle relaxation, like I do with Diazepam and Clonazepam.

i fucking love this post.
very accurate, for myself at least.

I don't find benzos really 'fun' per say. It's just the relief they give to all the anxities, be they general or social I have that feels so good. But the mind is silly and it thinks it can somehow "up" this feeling of relief by taking more benzos, it doesn't really work that way past a certain point. If I have no anxiety or stress and take a benzo, they're usually actually the opposite of fun. They dull my senses and thinking, making me feel dumber and not being able to indulge in intellectual pleasures as much anymore. They take the edge off things, both good and bad things. You generally only want the other I would think.

great post xanaxr, my doc thinks he is tapering me off xanax but i have my own supply of xanax bought illegally of course, ive tried tapering myself and taking withdrawal breaks but i thought i was dying, please please dont end up like me, stay safe xxxRachelxxx

What's fun about xanax? Everything haha!! I love em. I get 60 bars a month, but I need to slow down cuz they cause hellish w/d's. I've been on them for about 7 years now. I wish they'd give me 90, but my doc wants me to see a psychiatrist for that. I'm also prescribed fentanyl patches n 20mg oxy IR 60 a month. I have all sorts of shit wrong with me. If a normal person took my prescribed amount they'd either go into a coma or die.

Exactly this.

Clonazepam is the bee's knees. Haven't taken any in a while, though.

I'm going to apologize in advance, first post on here and I have no idea where to post.

I have 3mg Xanax and a bottle of Guaifenesin and Codeine (100/10mg).

Would there be any fun in mixing the two?

Btw.. Moderately high benzo tolerance and barely any opiate tolerance.

Waking up in the drunk-tank in county jail with no recollection of the past two days. The CO informs you that among your possessions was an empty bottle of 60 1mg alprazolam filled 2 days ago.

Your last full memory was making small talk with the pharmacist and hopping into your friend's car.

Much fun, but in the interest of HR. Big no no.
