Psychedelics and the occult

Please post a trip report. I am interested in what happens. I am Christian and usually feel a sense of closeness with God in the use of psychedelics (normally 2c-e) I have had freaky shit happen to me tho, like on the phone... while tripping. Bugged me but yea. I strongly believe Demons and Angels. Never have I come across anything angelic, but demonic... oh yes. I have a feeling if you mess with this stuff on something you may get yourself into something you wont like.

Why don't you keep it simple and just play with the Ouija board?

occult just means hidden.i would say that any psychedelic experience will reveal things that are normally hidden to the waking mind.the stronger the experience, the greater the revelation and the more difficulty there can be with intergrating that information at lower levels of consciousness.
i think the point of the rituals you may be reffering to is to get your body to produce its own internal psychedelic substances through physical action(or inaction)and to direct your attention to the specific area you wish to work on.
so if you are taking something anyway,a ritual would probably just serve to focus you on the object of that ritual.a negative object of attention is just asking for a negative trip.negativity rebounds threefold at the best of times, without being amplified by psychedelics.

My own view on demons is that they DO exist; however, as with creatures such as machine elves, they can be seen either as aspects of ones own self, or (if you want) autonomous beings. Certainly believeing in the latter makes it seem so, for many.....But magick isn't really about casting spells as much as focusing of will and intent. Anytime we make a decision and create/destroy, we use some form of magick....

My view on demons is that they are sort of "pools" or collections of negative energy formed by groups of people channeling fear or hate of suffering into a single place, that becomes sort of its own entity. For example, an old-school mental asylum where they essentially tortured the people in it could lead to one. Or people practicing the occult who have trained their minds to be able to manipulate energies in that way. These collections of negative energy can persist beyond the lifetime of the channeling of the energy.

If you allow these energies to affect you, you'll experience the "demon". But people can also "battle" against these forces with opposing positive energies if they're aware of how to. For a long time I was conflicted about the whole Catholic priest/exorcism thing. I mean, it would be foolish to deny the many experiences of others as a collective whole, to say that anyone who had had demonic experiences was deluded, and to say that any time a Catholic priest helped someone it wasn't real. But I do not believe that Catholic priests have any sort of special ability that no one else has, like they do, or that it's the power of the Christian concept of God that did it. Then when I applied this model of thought about what a demon is, it made sense. Whether real or not, the Catholic priest believes strongly that it is, so he uses tools and rituals to help his beliefs/positive energies become strong enough to intercept the negative thought collection - or demon - and disrupt it. Anyone could do it if they knew how to channel their energies.

^Do you ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight?

My view on demons is that they are sort of "pools" or collections of negative energy formed by groups of people channeling fear or hate of suffering into a single place, that becomes sort of its own entity.

I like your point of view because it seems similar to mine.

I think that the demons would actually be avatars or people who embody the sort of emotional concepts we all associate with 'bad' states of mind.

For example, take the concept of 'anger'. Of course it persists through time and of course it can grant great power to people, as well as pleasure and devotion. And it makes demands and has consequences that aren't immediately apparent, everything from increased strain on your circulatory system to reactions from other people that you don't think about.
Now a person could conceivably focus on anger as the motive force in their life, and become an avatar of anger, or a sort of demon. If the person saw everything in terms of how it made them angry, and anger was the fundamental tool they used to interact with every aspect of their life, no doubt that person would be on a different plane than the average you or me, and their anger would open many doors in life that remain closed to us, while making demands that we never have to answer to.

Whats more, just about every emotion or human proclivity can grant similar boons. Things like lust you can probably imagine easily, and when people devote themselves to a 'good' force, like for instance curiosity, they often become known across the world.

I think the concept I just illustrated answers for every aspect of demons in folklore. They're only drawn like they are and represented as incomprehensible or magically outside everyday experience because thats how we communicate about things, with exaggeration of relevant aspects etc. They aren't always bad, and people can benefit from fucking around with them, although there are definitely dangers.

Furthermore, I think that anyone who has met a large number of people has encountered those who through some extreme exaggeration of some emotional trait have become a demon, not necessarily hostile to you, but outside the realm of 'normal', and quite possibly hostile to some people.

And when you think about what can happen when someone who leans in a direction we think of as 'sick' acquires a position of power, like a psychiatrist or hitler in the worst case, they really do create a wound in humanity, and fuck with and destroy people. However I don't think that their power exists outside of the human mind, where it can propagate indefinitely, but not like in the house of usher or whatever.

If you're going to do this I'll just say something about playing with fire and getting burnt.

What you consider to be logical now might not be what you consider to be logical afterwards.

^ What makes you say that? There has been a lot of warnings in this thread but very little personal accounts to back them up. It seems to me alot of these warnings are based solely on assumptions and not personal experience, which is useless imho.

I could just as easily make assumptions about it, but I am not going to know if they are substantiated or not unless I do it. I remain skeptical that even if I have a difficult experience it will persist beyond coming down.

To be honest the more I read about doing it the more complicated it seems and I am not certain I can even really be bothered. I thought I could just draw a pentagram and light some candles and chant some phrase and thats all there was to it. Too many movies on my part I guess lol.

Should I go through with it however, I will post a detailed trip report and post the link to it in this thread.

This is all very interesting. I'm an "advanced practitioner" of esoteric matters, so to say. Life, demons, mental illness, the Universe, the dead, the undead, Christ, Satan, ALL of IT - is ALL the same thing. Sorry, nothing profound here, more than LIFE, which in of itself is the most profound thing of all!

Magick seems to me to a be the Western take on what Hindus have been saying all along.

Will- Lets say that the ability to perceive your own thoughts is what we call consciousness: You can be conscious of what you're thinking. Will is the intent to action that exists between consciousness and thought.

There is an obvious difference between perception and conception. When you perceive you are only seeing, making no judgment. When you conceptualize you are placing the object being perceived into a place in a system of thought. If you see a cross, you may recognize it as a Christian symbol; if you're not a Westerner- you may see it as a plus sign or not recognize it at all. Everything that you perceive that has any meaning to it is given that meaning by you when you conceptualize it. You place it in an arbitrary framework of thought.

Hindus have practiced sitting in still and quiet meditation to detach from their thoughts. They peel back their mind to the point of active perception in the now. Magick does the same thing but uses ritual and ceremony of various types. The point is to remove yourself from your preconceived notions, many of which are given to you by culture and tradition. You detach from these thoughts consciously and you focus your will with intent to change your perception of reality to what you want it to be, usually something more in line with the fulfillment of some desire or another, good, bad or indifferent, all ultimately subjective.

If you really want to experiment, go into the experience with the intention of learning to believe something other than what you believe now. That would be scary and fun. Cast that spell on yourself and become something new.

I had a friend who on his second acid trip sat in front of his mirror at his dresser and stared into his own eyes. He sat there and intentionally opened his mind to the spirit world (I can only imagine what that looked like to him, to his mind's eye). He said that a shadow emerged from somewhere, another dimension, and slowly descended his face. He said he felt paralyzed and afraid and pretty much just had to sit there and let it happen. The thing that entered his life that day announced itself as Bitch-Eater. And it never left. It actually seemed to get stronger, like it was stretching out and into his muscles at a glacial pace. My friend got weird. He was in the top 90 percentile and considered by most to be an extraordinary genius. Yet he lived homeless, shoplifting for food until he killed himself in his mid thirties. Bitch- Eater ate his soul.

There are thought loops and beliefs that are biologically dangerous. Death is nothing to be afraid of, so do what you will :)

^ In general, Dharmic religions wear their esoteric, mystical sides on their sleeves much more than Abrahamic religions do.

Hinduism is technically 'pagan', in the truest sense. It's simply the sum of the indigenous beliefs of the peoples of India. Many of its deities and some of its myths can even be correlated with those of ancient Greece, Asia Minor, and the Caucasus.

I know my answer may be a bit different than what others are saying, but do not engage in occult activities while tripping or anytime because when it comes down to it, spirits DO EXIST. Of course, if you do not believe in them, then they don't exist to you. However, I firmly believe in a spirit world that is far more accessible to us while under the influence of mind altering drugs. Sure, this spirit world could be thought of in other terms such as the unconscious, a collective mind, etc., but whatever you call it I feel that it does exist. Engaging in dark things such as necromancy, satanism, etc. anytime could lead to dark entities and energies coming into your life, possibly even taking you over. While tripping, the results could be tragic. At the very least, it could lead to a VERY bad trip. If you are going to attempt to contact some type of "external" entity while tripping, make sure it's something of a positive nature, not dark, creepy things such as engaging in the satanic while on hallucinogens

If you admit that what is ultimately real to you is what you accept as real, then why choose to believe in a reality where you are at the mercy of anything? Why choose to believe in a reality where you are more powerful than "spirits".
Devil worship I think, is what you are referring to which is very different than Satanism (satanists are just atheists that see Satan as a symbolic representation of liberation), People that practice and become masters of the Left Hand Path are not at the mercy of dark forces anymore than a sniper is at the mercy of his weapon at the target range.
There are many, many things in life that are feared and scorned simply because there is no real understanding of the subject.

"All great truths begin as blasphemies" -George Bernard Shaw

Anything sort of entity you are attempting to contact is ultimately an aspect if your subconscious mind, and it very well may be an aspect that you are not at all ready to communicate with.
Approach this situation, with sincerity and respect but never forget that it is a part of you and you control it.
If you are not comfortable entering very very altered states if consciousness, this is probably a bad idea and could potentially lead to lasting negative psychological issues.

Lack of strong belief in, or scepticism of, magickal phenomena will actually prevent any paranormal events from happening, as per the Laws of Quantum Mechanics, which have proven that the attitude of the observer directly influences whatever is being observed, to the point that the presence of just one hardcore skeptic in a magickal ritual will prevent paranormal phenomena from happening, despite the experience and abilities of the other people.

I could give you the scripts and instructions for a number of different rituals to Invoke spirit entities into your body temporarily, or to evoke spirits into a scrying mirror, but they would be useless due to your lack of belief and practical training.

I would strongly advise against dabbling with Magick with no intention to practice it seriously. You and your friends could much more easily and safely produce psychic phenomena through a group meditation, Kirtan (congregational chanting of mantras), or drum circle while tripping.

I've been fully Invoking several different Egyptian Gods while on DXM for over 10 years now. They completely possess me when they take over, and knock me out of my body for the duration of the experience. They speak through my mouth to the others present, though it is distinctly NOT my voice coming out, and there are often objective manifestations such as electronic equipment going haywire, a powerful air pressure shift that pops people's ears and makes it hard to breathe, and an overwhelming odor of roses that disappears when the entities leave my body. I've learned the hard way that these experiences usually frighten the shit out of the uninitiated (literally sometimes), no matter how mentally stable they THINK they are, and I've actually had people run screaming from the room before and never speak to any of us again. One time, the Invocation I performed in a girl's presence so shattered her whole concept of reality that she was hospitalized in a long term mental hospital!

Spirit Invocation is NOT a subject to be treated casually or for entertainment!

So it's like Kel Mitchell's character in Mystery Men. He's only invisible when no one's watching. What a convenient property! It's like no one can ever prove or disprove it!

And no, that's not how quantum mechanics works. Referencing science when you obviously have no interest in the most basic concepts of the scientific method makes your claims look absurd.

How magick actually seems to work (cerimonial magigick in particular) is by causing changes in the practitioners personal reality which has an effect on the perceptions of others in this world. In this sense it could be thought of as a multi-faceted form of meta-programming.
There really, really seems to be two types of people that practice magick. The first which comprises about 95% of people who claim to be involved in "Magick" believe that they are wizards. The other fraction, understands and has always understood that these have always been extremeley advanced techniques for personal development and self mastery. Magick always works! Even if the ritual you just performed only works because it made you believe that it would work so it it does.
It does not matter at all if it's all a form of self trickery to achieve your will. It works and that's all that matters.

What I described is known in Physics as the Observer Effect. This concept is so commonly known and written about not only throughout the current mainstream Scientific community, but has been explained in Western Magickal texts for the last several hundred years, as well as the ancient Vedic Scriptures (which are the oldest writings on the planet), and Scientology and it's offshoots.

Mainstream science is constantly claiming to "discover" things, such as this phenomena, even though it has been widely known for thousands of years by the Spiritually Enlightened. They're just trying to play catch up to the Knowledge and Wisdom already known and utilized by millions of people for as far back as we have historical records.

Here's a link to the Wikipedia article explaining the Observer Effect:

Whose claims look absurd now, my friend?

(I know this post came off sounding snarky, so I apologize if I've offended you. That wasn't my intention, so please forgive me. :D )

Everything you have said is exactly true. Right on! Magick works, like you said, by Causing profound change to occur in one's subjective universe, and then projecting the Energy of those personal changes into the objective universe, causing one's environment to change correspondingly. However, you didn't state the one absolute necessity for accomplishing this feat: the Magickal Link. This is basically the Hyperdimensional Doorway between one's subjective universe and the objective universe. Using the Magickal Link is the ONLY way to pass through the barrier between the universes. This Link can also be used to cause changes in someone else's subjective universe, though one treads the razor's edge between White and Black Magick by doing this, even if you have the best of intentions to help the other person. If you aren't aware of the complexities of the Law of Karma and the possible consequences involved, I would advise staying away from attempting this. Also, you must consider that by causing any physical, mental, or spiritual changes in someone else without their participation, and especially if they aren't aware of what you're doing, you're basically overriding the person's Free Will to make changes in themselves on their own under their own control, hence this whole operation is pure Black Magick and WILL have karmic repercussions sooner or later.
