Why Don’t We Just Shoot Condemned Inmates?

@ spacejunk killing for pleasure and killing for country are different. Argue if you must.

What if somebody happens to get a lot of pleasure from killing for country?

Does this absolve war crimes? Acts of genocide?
That's ok if it's for your country?
That seems a bit arbitrary for something as serious as getting executed.
Self defence? By accident? Mental illness or impairment?

Found guilty when they're innocent?

That last one is the most important.

If we kill all the killers, we'd have to kill those who kill the killers. Pretty soon we'd have nobody left. As spacejunk (or someone with a little more fame than he already said) an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.

@ holytoast. I don't kill people that's what makes me different. Did they have any mercy on their victims? That's what makes it right.

You don't kill people but you advocate the killing of people who kill people?
I just find so many holes in this logic, and as spacejunk said so many people enjoy killing for their country that it's sickening
The whole world needs to move the fuck away from acts of violence, whether they are considered morally warranted by some.
Remove dangerous criminals from the public so they cannot do harm, greatly increase the jail time for those who murder in cold blood, remove their chance for appeal or what have you but under no circumstances should you be able to decide that they are no longer worthy of life.

Listening to the confessions of a man who played a large part in the execution of many individuals through the electric chair, young men on death row became different men by the time it came to execute them.

I believe nobody ultimately is who they appear. Should they be killed, nothing will ever change. A lost opportunity for a solution. The executioner becomes the living victim, as somebody who thought killing was not going to bother them.

That is why suicide killers are not mad, only the mad would hope to live after that. For some, apparently, it doesn't bother them. So do we just point out collectively who needs to be killed and have them do it? I would rather have my enemy kill me than turn into a coward.

The only time it can be justified is in defense of life and even then there is such a natural repulsion to it. It is worth asking, would that kind of killer be bothered if a few too many died?

I think that this is right on the money. Cheers, pmoseman.

I am on the same page as you are, HT.

I don't mind having a good discussion about this, but ghost seems to be grasping at straws, bringing up taxpayers.

Capital Punishment is certainly controversial.

Many people in America who are involved in carrying out the execution of an inmate (in states which have Capital Punishment) are usually some denomination of Christianity. If "In God We Trust" and if one of the Ten Commandments is "Thou shalt not kill," how is this case an exception?

Even if you're Atheist, doesn't it seem wrong to take another man or woman's life?

Get the families of the victims to do it if they're so for it.

I don't see it written anywhere not to kill a women, so no, it is not wrong. What makes atheism so great is that God will forgive you just for being an atheist.

Why not make an island into a Prison, with enough security so those who live on the island can't escape.
They would be free to roam, to make there own society, collect there own resources and make shelter.
Taxpayers shouldn't have to feed, clothe and give shelter to those who choose to take life.

Those who kill shouldn't be allowed in mainstream society, nor do I believe we should take there lives by locking them up in a tiny cell until they die, or being hypocritical and taking there lives by murdering them. At the same time, I think they waived the right to live in general population by killing.

Let them live in there own society, with all the other killers. We will also add child molesters and rapists.
Heck, make it into a TV program and charge for subscription to watch the, "Murder, Rape and Molester Island", for all i care(heavyhearted joke, lets not make a tv program).

Are you not Christian pmoseman (thought you were)? And if you are, does it not say in the Bible that it's a sin to kill?

Our women need to be protected, as they are physically weaker on average than men.

IMO, physical abuse or murder of women by men is especially heinous.

My mother was repeatedly abused by her father, helpless to stop him. For a long time, he'd come home violently drunk, only to beat her up for no reason - many times she had to be hospitalized due to the injuries she sustained. She did nothing to deserve that sort of treatment. And as a result, she suffers from severe PTSD.
