Most Complicated Movies you've ever seen (intellectual)

memento is awesome. i made up a knock-knock joke about it:

memento the movie!
memento who?
memento...
who's there?
knock, knock

I used to find it hard to get my head around Army Of The Twelve Monkeys. Haven't seen it for about 5 years now, though.

I hope nobody mentions Inception.

Donnie Darko is up there, definitely. Even after watching it 15 times, you're right, you still notice some subtitles. Pi is also really good, as is Memento.

I also hear Mullholand Drive is really confusing; I downloaded it but have yet to watch it.

Mullholand Drive is stupid in my opinion. the ending is just ridiculous and if you read online the meaning of the film you'd laugh... they tried too hard to be clever it's just confusing as shit and not even that good IMO.

there is no definitive explanation of mulholland drive.

awesome film.

i hate to say it... but Star Wars.
The movies may seem quite shallow to the common observer, but as many times as I've seen the movies I learn something new. It is in fact very deep, and has taken me years to understand the philosophy of the Jedi and the nature of the force, and of destiny.. etc.
Not to mention it's full of allegories and analogies.

12 monkeys is one of the most rewatchable films i know. i've probably seen it and contact more than any other films by far.

Mulholland Drive can go fuck itself. (I should review movies for a living)

I attempted it twice.

Even after reading about it online, to help me piece it together. It was like the SATs all over again.

Memento, on the other hand, is an amazing and awesome journey.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind- I've watched it a bunch of times and I understan the basic lot but there are so many questions I have....it just doesn't seem to add up.

Donnie Darko for shoooww. Id say shutter island was at first but after one or 2 viewings it makes more sense. Still good though

Mulholland Drive's script was originally a pilot for TV. Lynch has gone on record that they did stuff just to do it. The blue key/box has no meaning, its not even a macguffin. Its not a complicated movie at all.

Alphaville
Primer (I stopped watching it because I couldn't understand it at all)
I 2nd Lost Highway. Its some sort of weird circular/quantum thing about death.
2001: A Space Odyssey - it doesnt make sense until you read the books. And even then...
Donnie Darko - Directors Cut
Naked Lunch
Brazil
Farenheit 451
