Why does Kratom not test positive for opiates on a drug test? It does have a partial affinity to the mu-opiate receptors, so shouldn't it technically test positive for opiates then? Since they are "activated"?

Im just curious. Can someone possibly explain?

Because technically it isn't opiate, it simply mimicks effects of an opiate.

Drug tests look for known metabolites of commonly used substances and Kratom's aren't looked for yet in standard testing. They can absolutely check for it but it isn't a part of a standard screen.

Ahhh I see. So just because it activates opiate receptors doesn't mean there are "opiate" metabolites then. I gotcha! Thanks!

it can absolutely be tested for though, and is by all SAMHS - office of substance abuse mental health services - programs.
